Fret vs fretless Can someone explain the advantage of playing a fret bass from one without the frets? Thanks. | |

Fretless lets you have that smooth slide from one note to another... I think the major advantage (as with any fretless instrument) is the slides... [Edited 12/27/07 8:12am] | |

No prob. Fretted is much easier to learn to play. One advantage of fretted is finding the notes (because the frets are markers... however you can get fretless with markers also, they're just lines denoting where the frets would be...) The frets are more forgiving for finger position I think (note will sound ok even if you're a little off position)... with fretless you've got to be more precise... | |
