Protests a-plenty
Down Market St.
Myriad marching goes
One reason or another:
This kind of Pride
That kind of Protest
The other kind of circus

Reminiscent
Of a teenage daughter
On her tenth boyfriend of the year:
A little cute, but a little monotonous.
And the question
I find myself asking:
What cause is San Francisco dating this week?

How one city
Can survive the madness
Year after year
Is beyond me, for sure
(That's to say if it is surviving)
If all the movements
Moved to another corner of the world
Would the ruby slippers still be worth Oz?
