I'm a sucker for that cool sci-fi synth sound that Prince gets on the Pop Life single, you know, that strange sound that appears at the start of the song, as well as the choruses. I guess you can get it with some kind of crazy effect. Any ideas about what it is and how to get it?

I dunno where it came from..but I'm trying to get that sound too.
More like the Bernie Groove.
I hope to get this song down.
It's vintage keys and synth and good pitch bend techniques sometimes.
Maybe an old vintage keyboard or a 4000$ one will do the trick.

Thank you so much, emile57. Here's hoping we don't really need such an expensive synth to get that great sound! . I think it's all about working out some patch and then performing some other tweaks as the song goes along. The problem is how to figure out where to start. Sounds like an early version of "soundtrack" on General MIDI played backwards with a pitch bend IMHO!
