How many of you are guitar players??

Just wondered how many Orgers are guitar players??

Been playing myself since I was 12 and at the grand old age of 26 now, I'm orbably not as good as I should be considering the length of time I've been at it. But still, not bad considering I've never had a lesson.

What guitars do you all have? I've only got three cheapies at the mo, including an imitation Strat that I picked up cheap stripped down and modded so its a cool Prince themed purple silver and black with a funky shaped body!!

Anyone out there actually go themselves a Cloud?

I am allegedly a guitar player. If you ask my wife, you might not get the same answer, LOL.

I have:

Ovation 12-string
Fender acoustic
Ibinez acoustic
Fender Telecaster
Fender Limited Edition Stratocaster
Ibinez Bass

I like the Telecaster best, then the Ovation.

Alright, sorry for asking. Sheesh! confused I'm doing six hours. As a matter of fact, I was thinking about going on a little hiatus and maybe come back to "ANY" and "EVERY" instrument I've ever dealt with, sometime later in life. I think it's healthy since I am tired of the same results. So, I'll "TRY" my best to lower the number of posts about it. razz

What do you mean by "AIDS"? Eew, you don't use those! No, but seriously, I don't use any "AIDS", per se. But, I'm afraid that I am going to need a "First AID Kit" if I keep having to press down really hard on those f'ing frets. OH,POO!!! That's why I'm considering to tone it down and come back to it some other time like this one guy around here on "The ORG" suggested. I, actually do slack, though. But, I am saying that, at the most, I have done six hours before. Usually, "FUCK AROUND SESSIONS" (Which, when you think about it, sounds funny, now that you've mentioned "AIDS") average out at about two-to-three hours.

Oh, I'm stupid! You meant tools, period. I thought you were asking me if I had tools that I used (I don't really use any of them.). Yeah, I have a few note, chord, mode, and scale sheets that have been nullified, sitting around somewhere. I, usually just play songs that I like to listen to by ear. But, I can never seem to execute the way I would like, you know what I mean. I mean, I could pull-off some basic moves and what not. But, it's all contrived and forceful. It's never comfortable and I could never get the sound that I want to get when trying to execute a particular part of a song (Which prevents me from even finishing a song as I go back and forth when trying to completeit), while others can do exactly what I may want to do and have my guitar make the exact sounds I would like it to make when I am playing. Oh, I see. I can observe, but the emulation is never successful. Anyway, I'm not talking negative. I'm just giving you a deeper look inside my trials and tribulations for the love of all guitarists and guitar-playing. Capisce!?! razz smile biggrin wink

About fifteen. Well, I don't know all of them. But the sheet holds about fifteen of what I hear are the basics like "B Minor, B Major, C Major, F Major, D Minor,etc.". I try to play individual lead parts of songs. The chords are like the easiest things to learn to me (As I think they should be to everybod else). It is not even the difficulty of certain songs. Sometimes it's just the pure emotion to pull off the sounds that they do. Sometimes it's just a natural feel to the instrument. Take the intro guitar-playing to "The Ride". I don't consider it different until that part right before he kicks off into the first verse. But, even though I know the notes to press and how I am supposed to execute the performance, it never ceases to amaze me how that simple sound is deprived. I've seen people (6 months and running) easily pull-off parts that I can't and it's been over the period of, for off-and on, two years.

chord training is about 2 to 3 years by itself
id stick with that
you should know all the open chords, first
forget about the barre chords, unless you already built up the strength
then once you got that, finding individual trieds IE just three note chords
than four notes
then once you know the chords concentrate on rhythm
play with 9ths and 13ths
then after that concentrate on lead
once you got both aspects done pack, mix chords with lead playing

doing all this should take you about a year or two, if your doing 6 hours a day
if your getting frustrated is becaus eyour not getting results, so u gotta be doing something wrong
like trying to do these all at once

My rhythm playing is tight. But, of course, it still needs some working on. There had better not be any more than four note chords, because, if there is, then, "FUCK IT"!!! lol Three is complex enough. The one four-note chord that I can pull off is the one from "Let's Go Crazy" that keeps getting played throughout the song (I think you know the name of it. I found it by ear. Strange that I could pick up a four-note chord.). How many four-note chords in this world of guitar-playing are there? Hopefully, less than the three-and-two-note ones. Oh, and as far as rhythm-playing, I don't know what the hell the timing is on "Lady Cab Driver", "Bambi", and "777-9311", but I know I can play them. lol

U know your only making it harder on yourself trying to play p songs lol
The reason i like Prince is because the vast majority of his songs are complex.
but hey its your forte

the vast majority of the chords are four notes or barrechords
the the three note chords are usually open chords

thats why your fingers hurt so much though, u started with funk songs
for a begginner iw ould never reccomend funk songs
cause funk is the hardest thing to play

What is a barrechord? And, I don't think that the funk songs I play are hard. "SuperFunkyCaliFragiSexy" and "Kiss" are like the hardest "Funk" songs I know from "Prince". The hardest chord progression to me, that I haved worked on so far has been "Bambi".

Capo? I'm a Don, son! lol But, seriously, what the hell would you define as a capo.
Edit: Oh, wait! Do you mean to make that chicken-scratch sound with a certain string? I just don't want you to answer "ALL" of the questions because that makes me look like a dumbass airhead. lol

I looked up what a capo is and it said that it is an accessorized device used to alter the pitch. But, it was really difficult to read any further. My attention span is "SO" fucking short! I hate it! confused

When I think open chords, I think open strings. Is there something I'm missing on what I believe to be open chords?
