Garageband.com Gets New Life

Garageband-dot-com, the Web site and record label for up-and-coming artists, is up and running again after shutting down in February, when funding ran out. The company, founded in 1999, is now owned by Evolution Artists Inc., a corporation formed in June by a small group of Garageband employees and members. Entrepreneur/guitarist Ali Partovi is the new CEO.

In its new incarnation, Garageband intends to make money from three revenue streams: (1) soon-to-be-launched premium services for music fans, (2) soon-to-be-launched premium services for musicians, and (3) working closely with major record labels to help them identify the best new artists and gain valuable audience data for marketing those artists.

Among the 37-member advisory board are producers and artists Sir George Martin, Steve Lillywhite, Jerry Harrison, Steve Earle, Brian Eno, Bob Rock, Kashif and Ed Stasium.

Clear Channel is about to launch the same, but I wouldn't trust their sleazy asses.
