As a Non-Prodigal Musician...... Would you say that it is mandatory to hang around other musicians for motivation and other purposes?

I tend to hang around with no-talent musicians in order to feel more talented myself, for the most part.

I imagine hanging around with good musicians keeps you hungry to 'up' them. Maybe thats achievable on your own - listening to records and thinking 'damn!' i gotta beat that.

True. I do that, myself and I make it a must to emulate and then, sooner or later better the performance with my little extra touch. But, I suck at it! Something is holding me back.
