start now...finish later

Have you ever started a project that somehow, found it's way to the "back-burner"?
Then, months/years later you decide to finish it lol

If you've ever done this,
Did you feel the project turned out better or not?

And what was the project?

Yes. Usually I finish something when I start it. Once time goes by, we become different people and have different things to say, so while I may approach the same subject, I'll usually start it fresh.

I don't like seeing unfinished projects but I have a few laying around now. Some, I work on at a gradual pace, but once I stop, I'm done with it.

Do you find this method easier with art, poetry, or music?

Dang org..... lol

In my world, if a project finds it's way to the back burner,
that's where it usually stays.....

And being the packrat that I am, they tend to accumulate for a while
before I finally get around to actually getting rid of them, probably
because I think I'll finish, but I know I won't.

Doesn't make sense, I know..... neutral

Most of the things that end up on the back burner for me
are crafty and sewing projects....I'm not into those things
so much anymore.

yes and yes lol
the color drafts of my calender parody are done.
that's a project I went back to finish.
sometimes I just stop, because something else needs to get out.
So I would have to say "many".

I see you do have lots of unfinished projects... lol Btw, I love
the face on the far right...it actually looks finished to me. cool

In private I've been working on my poetic skills for over
a year now, but I still have a long way to go.....I did however
have a teacher who was very patient with me....

I struggle with it sometimes and go slowly if I have to...they
don't usually just pop off the top of my head. But, I try and I
feel good about it, so really that's all that counts.

I also like making up my own recipes...nothing complicated, mind you.. lol

these are 3 unfinished rock formations using the "Hypertufa" recipe

this will be a simple "water stone".It holds water now ,but needs concrete sealer.

this can be a small fountain or planter.
the goal is to have it hold water.

this was just meant to look "unatural".
I used extra peatmoss in the mix.
If it stays moist, moss will actually grow on the outside of this container.

It's the only method I can get any work done anyway. Besides, even a year or so spent on distancing yourself from the sound of a particlular piece does you good and when you add the final changes to it you usually are aware better what kind of changes the production demands.

I agree.
And you can enhance the project,by bringing more knowledge to the original idea.
Several times I've felt a finished piece could have had more.
Does this method work for you when deadlines are involved?

I kind of thought that's what you were talking about...
It looks like a lot of work actually....those kinds
of planters and rocks are very expensive at garden stores.

I like the idea of the moss growing on the outside... cool
