EVERY ARTIST ON THE ORG....Check in here! New Funk Order PROJECT 4 draft!

EVERY ARTIST ON THE ORG....Check in here! New Funk Order PROJECT 4 draft!(UPDATE 3/31/07 MUY IMPORTANTE!)

[Since people cannot post on the first thread, a new one has been created. Here's the link to the 1st thread http://www.prince.org/msg/15/220097 - luv4u]

Well, I would like to get a roll call of org artists, because I want to put together a new New Funk Order project....I want this one to be LARGE. We've got huge talent here, and I would like to start brainstorming with you all for ideas on the theme and overall direction of the project! And, of course, I want it to be funkalicious. Yes, funk can be slow songs, funk can be fast songs, funk can be anything you want it to be as long as it's the P!

I don't want anyone to hold anything back....if you've got a jam that's
90 minutes long, bring it! Regular CD's have about 700mb of storage on them, and this could be an MP3 CD, so let's funk it up!

Post on this topic if you want to get in on this! Visual art peeps are welcome here also, as are poets!

JD

UPDATE 3/13/07

I talked with the NFO chief designer, and he is okay to go forward with Project 4!!!! I will be helping to gather songs from you all and compiling them for the project! We need ideas and artwork! Post your theme ideas and art here!

UPDATE 3/31/07

The NFO guy is working on a visual concept for the NFO4 project....in the meantime, I created a place where we can kind of "rough draft" the project together into a "work-in-progress" here at http://www.soundclick.com...erproject4 . I know some of you have issues about the sound quality of Soundclick, so we won't be using this site as the final means to display the works, this is just temporary until we can get the songs over to the NFO server.

Yes, and they are doing quite well. "The Politics of Fear" hit number 1 last week in its genre. I hope we can get something professional done real soon!

24 Dimensions...the horns sound like the funk from "P Funk Wants To Get Funked Up". The track is nice indeed..and is bare...has style and real musicianship. Kinda short though. I'd like to hear a solo or sum....

Wake Up - The beat is crucial. They keys are tight. And the synth bass is hott. This works great as an instrumental...I think it's coo. I wouldnt change a thing. A smooth uptempo number. It's old school, but modern in the same sense.

Obligatory Sex Ballad. The music is not too far off from some Funkadelic funk off the Cosmic Slop album. Slow....nasty. You can hear the wind in the background..and even maybe if u get it deep enuff in your ear..smell the lust. The vocals are arranged like Prince would in the Diamond & Pearls era. It sits on it's own too because alot of people dont do this type of music anymore except for Andre 3000 (Vibrate / Stanklove / Bad Note).

Dolphinboy in Deep Water. nod music Some bootleg sounding local Minneapolis funk take from 1984. U know..with the neon yellow album cover with some guy with a jehri curl lookin at you in black and white with eye liner on. Yeah this is that type of funk. Dis beat Disrupts..... My main genere is old school funk so i really dig this one too.

These Are Electric Times. A midtempo pop number...that changes structure and has different styles of music. From rock, folk, upbeat hip hop to some latin tinges. I applaud you for incorporating all those elements while still keeping the song a whole because i wouldnt have known what to do with it. Nice.

Binary Funk - This sounds like a space age track from 1983 for a video game. It's got a nice beat. Mid tempo. And you know i'd love to hear a female on this track talkin bout how much she miss some dude down the street or something in a robot voice. I love the guitar which sound like it was phased through the keyboard too. I am not musically litterate so excuse me if I said that wrong. It's a standout track to me. Paul Hardcastle would be proud.

Broke Ass - I like my lil song I guess.

Caliente Funk - Don't know how to exactly put it in any category. Doesnt rely on a beat buit more of the melody of the acoustic gutar and bass. I'm not really clear on what the artist is singing in the background. However it is different than anything I have heard in a long time. Dont really know how to describe it.

The Politics Of Fear - This would be a GREAT ENDER. I love to make something liek this. It embodies elements of spoken word and Bush speaking on the war over a hardcore beat. Through the song it incorporates some old victrola like recording of a family singing some type of Traditional song. In sense it is scary and haunting. And left me thinking.....and saying to myself "play that one again real quick.."

thank u 4 ur time

There's no acoustic geetar in the song smile That's just a "clean" electric guitar. I wrote it and I don't know how to describe it, either. I was going for a kind of funk-meets-Santana thing...

Thanks for listening!
