Ad funded music download service to launch (FYI) Platform: Internet | Author: Luan Goldie | Source: nma.co.uk | Published: 30.04.07
Ad funded music download service WE7.com will launch today. The DRM-free service allows users to legally share and play tracks on any MP3 player. Users will be able to select content from independent labels and unsigned acts. Ads will run at the beginning of tracks and albums and remain for four weeks, forcing users to hear them each time. The ads will be matched to the users WE7 profile to allow targeting by age, gender and taste. Musician Peter Gabriel is backing the site launched by SurfControl founder Steve Purdham. Purdham said, "In the can't pay, won't pay digital world where consumers expect 'free' content, the idea of WE7 is simple: artists get paid, music fans get free downloads and advertisers get heard." http://www.we7.com/ No hablo espanol,no!
