Do they have a link..... ? Well, the NFO pretty much started here- it was an idea I had back in December of 2002.....the Org Musician's Community only existed for a couple months at the time. Both the Musician's Community and the NFO both happened because of the same idea. The idea was that Prince fans (and other funk inspired artists) could come here and share music and collaborate on music together. Deeper still, the meaning was to save music from getting into corporate hands by having artists share thier music freely in a community atmosphere thereby promoting their music at the same time by such a positive process. And, I really wanted to preserve the "funk" genre of music. Too many folks in the last decade have forgotten how to be funky, and it was time for a new funk revolution. Me and VinaBlue asked the mods to create the forum, and they obliged. Then, a fellow from Florida liked my idea so much that he invested his skill in web design and art in my idea and bought the www.newfunkorder.com domain. He maintains the site. Org user Yamomma was/is also a chief designer In the NFO. Artists and I send them the basic blueprints for many of our projects and they get creative, implement, and finish the projects. It's wonderful to have folks that support the ideas so much that they do this work voluntarily. It's a very good thing. JD [Edited 3/14/07 14:20pm]

so after the last five years..... how do you think its going.... ? Well, it's going very well. A few artists have really kickstarted their careers in part due to the NFO. Our organization is much like Groovement/Earthseed in that manner....they were before us but we unknowingly started the NFO in the same vein. In fact, one of the fellow founders of Groovement has participated here in our dialect as he was very interested in what we do. I hope that he will participate with us in the future. As far as revenue, from what I can gather (since Vina and Yamomma handle the financial end) we haven't really gained anything because we are non-profit in that manner- usually, artists have their proceeds go to charities of their choice, and most of the music is free for download. Any net revenue has went toward paying for the site. If we did choose to go "for-profit" (which I don't see happening, it would defeat the entire purpose of the NFO), we would be very profitable due to the mere volume of downloads that have been accessed over the years. I hope that artists will use the site as a means to promote, and maybe there will be an opportunity in the future to gain profit from promotion and "brand marketing" of the NFO, much like Prince has done with the NPG line.

Yuze givin' me ideas! That would eliminate any other type of artists on the forum..it would strictly become musicians only.....but then maybe that's what you've really been wanting... Any thoughts on that?

Here ya go, have a read! http://newfunkorder.com/H...story.html artists dedicated to preserving the freedom of music. The New Funk Order became a musical movement, a rebuttal to the political "New World Order" that encourages corporate globalization and exploitation of all that is good. The message of the NFO is to show that artists can provide free music to the public without the influence of corporate greed. Music is not free. Radio stations can only play a certain percentage of artists that are signed and record companies wont sign artists based on artistic merit. The internet is a great place to share music you wouldn’t otherwise hear unless you know these artists personally. rebuttal.... Government support.... fund'ed is funky... Appproach..... you need structure a mainframe model of productivity.... org artist requirement/commitment to proceed.... doesnt have to be much.... might just cost some willingness.... No offence.... but new funk order.... is doing a resale of what most of us have bought already..... this place Prince.org.... is big on push.... very little pull.... just my objective opinion.....

I love the idea of having even more communities out there like ours....it means that music is kept more and more out of the hands of those who try to exploit it such as large media companies and greedy individuals.
