Linn Drum Machine: Anyone Own One? .::UPDATED - Again!

~*~

Who owns a Linn Drum Machine?

Either a the first Linn LM-1 drum machine or the second version LM-2 known generally as the LinnDrum!

And are you implementing it into your live rig or small studio environment for compositions, etc.?

Any songs we can hear?

Linn information link:

Linn Electronics LM-1 Drum Computer

Linn Electronics LinnDrum (LM-2)

PLEASE, note which Linn you own or from which one you are using sounds from! Thanks!

You know, I'm a drummer as well and yeah, I don't like the feel of modern drum machines, or even MIDI programmed drums, live playing (either acoustic or electronic) is always better, it brings soul to a songs BUT there is something special about the Linn.

I think there is something special about its programmer. The equipment is only as good as the person using it. Prince's programming with the Linn is second to none. That's not to say that the Linn is just another drum machine, but as great as a Fender Stratocaster is, not everybody can get it to sound great. What's special is the ability of the musician/programmer.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I own a LINNDRUM! It's great when used to compliment other drum machines/sounds, but on it's own it has a very "Prince" sound. All the tracks I have made with only the Linn, sound like a PRince bite.

Would that be the LINNDRUM, second color picture from top?

Do you have a demo of a song you used it in? I'm not a member of the MP3.com site and really don't want to join.

Thanks!

I don't own a Linn Drum - just a puny Boss Dr. Rhythm, 550. I love live drums, too, but need a better drum machine with more storage for original beats so I can write my songs.
Anybody know which drum machines would be a good jump up from the BOSS 550?
I'm willing to spend $500-$600 or so.

Just heard your track! It's a LinnDrum LM-2. Very cool song. Well done, very inspired by Prince. Steady beat, cool bass line, love the synth elements.

BUT...

I remember reading or hearing somewhere, Miles Davis said, I think in reference to Prince, "He looks like he sounds."

White oversized t-shirts and gold chains...Funk look it is not.

I think there is an LM something plug in. The interface kind of looks like the LinnDrum LM-2.

But I haven't used it.

Try searching at Stienberg's website for info.
