I use Sonar. It is cool. It really depends on how deep u want to go with it. People claim that Mac is better for music but I don't know that to be true.

I've been wrestling with this one for about a year! I've been hearing that tech support for Sonar sucks.

It's really about the money and I don't have a ton so I bought Sonar. I love it although I've never called tech support but never had the need to. The software is capable of so much and I use the minimum, input record, mix, export WAV files.

I installed on my laptop but my sound card was average. It's so much better on my PC with a Soundblaster sound card, it's just not a laptop.

I'm not into MIDI or samples so I just drag my WAV files into Itunes, create MP3's and burn CDs. Again though, I'm using 20% of what the software is capable of.

Garageband is the cheap version for the Mac. My friend has created some amazing stuff just by plugging his guitar into his mac and using samples from grageband. Protools is on the Mac primarily but it's just a lot of Ca$h

protools isnt expensive its teh hardware thats expensive
least it use to be
the M-box mini is 280 and that comes with protools le,
i have that on my sites

as a mac user
i only Use Logic Pro 7,
fuckin amazing, but the only problem i have with it is its lacking in control with the audio realm
its fucking great for midi and plug ins, but when it comes to audio its lacking
hence the reason im getting protools

back in the recording studio i use to work for, my boss told me that the best solution
was to use Logic Pro for midi and creation inspiatation,
bounce everything to audio waves or aaif , and just import the session into protools for audio editing, mixing,
etc
which is what im gonna do when i get my studio up and adam
sonar is alright but if u want more bang for your buck
id choose cubase
its just like protools, just cheaper
I am a Rail Road, Track Abandoned

Cubase is the best all-around solution for midi & audio (editing audio in Logic has always sucked, altough I wouldn't know about the more recent mac-versions). I use an old version of Sonar myself though, and don't see a reason at the moment why I should use something else.

Protools is yesterday.
