"This is Only Earth"... my newest song.

http://www.garageband.com...aSlaFa-YmE

I decided to give this song this title after I told it to someone on this messageboard (mozfonky)... the lyrics were written before.

what do you guys think of it?

hey groovy thank you... no word from Daniel but i've just put together a compilation cd which consists of 27 of my favorite songs written mostly from June 2006 to December 2006 and I'm sending it to film producer Wes Anderson (and others) but I really want to get Wes Anderson interested.

groovy be sure to check out my newest one "Don't Kill Myself." it's on another thread in this forum... - http://www.soundclick.com...dID=649160

by the way... I know that you are a fan of the visual arts from all the videos you've recommended to me in the past - just wondering if you could think of any other film producers that you would think would be good for me. I can't think of anybody better than wes anderson and tim burton but if you can think of others can you let me know? I want to write a soundtrack for a movie - that's my goal for these songs I've been doing.

Maybe you could source out
the "manager" of Danny Elfman
and other soundtrack producers.....

Jus wondering if you have read
any books that you can or have
put a soundtrack too already...???

Kate Bush gives you music and a story with every song....

It would be an intersting concept
to be able to buy a soundtrack that
goes specifically with the feel of a book...
You got for The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho?
I know I love reading to a few songs from
"Dreamcatcher - the best of secret garden"
depending on what I'm reading....
not that I read that much
in book form

maybe you could go grab some
old old movies and rework the
musical score and mail that off to
movie house.... and dont overlook the gang
that Adam Sandler plays with... I could see you
getting in that mix.... if thats what you aiming for...

I'd still love to know what instruments and equipment your using....
anyway... get back to work... lol

thumbs up!

I've thought about sending something to Danny Elfman but not to his manager... why do you think I should send it to his manager?

That is a good idea of a soundtrack going with a book but I would rather do it for a movie.

The equipment I use is some cheap software (reason), a $20 mic from Best Buy that is not meant for recording vocals lol and a midi piano. The reason why the instruments sound so different is because I create new synthesizer sounds for each composition and blend them in with instrument samples and play them on the piano. so when you say "instruments" most of the songs you hear of mine are 70 - 80% of my own synthesizer sounds (I never use someone else's synth sound - i just feel funny about it) this equipment is very limiting but the limitations are a challenge and I believe it has forced me to get better. Now once I get these in a real studio recorded professionally I think you will like these songs way better (you will see that I can sing much better than what I've been showing with these rough drafts)... and I have found a very well-known producer willing to do just that I just gotta find work now.

I'll check out Adam Sandler's producer too.

and I will get back to work tomorrow lol. it takes awhile to make my demo cds and send them off and also to find out who I'm going to send them to,etc...

here is the movie producers who I have sent my demo to so far...

Steve Golin (Being John Malkovich)
Wes Anderson (The Life Aquatic)
Tim Burton (Corpse Bride)
Jonathan Demme (Adaptation)
David O. Russell (I Heart Huckabees)

there's one more but I can't think of him right now

Well I just came back from watching Dreamgirls.....
and aint it the manager/management that do all
the work the you are currently doing,,,, ???

management management management....

I reckon it would take you about
3 weeks to make a soundtrack to
a movie devin...

go grab an old old old movie...
Maybe a Charlie Chaplin or something,
and see what you can come up with....

if anything it would be fun... lol

thanks for explaining a bit about your sound....
I dont know if I wanna like it more... I dont
know if I'd like it more if it came from a studio...
Although a mic upgrade could be a good thing...

and on with the show... lol

biggrin

three weeks making a soundtrack?? that quick!? lol

what I really want to do is just take some of the songs I have already created and turn them into a soundtrack by re-writing the lyrics, re-doing the arrangements, or whatever I need to do to make them work. I believe I have plenty of melodies already to pull that off... but of course I would also write new stuff as well.

no matter what studio I am or how far my music takes me I will always use the synthesizers. I think a professional recording of my music would sound way better. one thing you gotta consider is I spend a lot of time on these synthesizer sounds... but between me converting them to mp3 for the site(dulls the timbre down) and recording my vocals over them (hiss and echo) a lot of the sound quality is lost. plus with the lack of privacy and cheap microphone I have I can't sing these songs like I want to... my voice is really loud and strong but this cheap mic can't handle it. everything would be better in a real studio.

even though the $20 mic is literally broken in half now? - i did it about 3 months a go (dropped it) so now I take my beatles dvd set and place a dictionary and the mic on top of it. I place the mic inside of the pages of the dictionary so it will hold up the neck of it. lol

no I never want to advertise any product unless it's an advertisement to stop advertising

maybe it is better I don't know lol because I think my vocals on my newest track (not this one) are pretty good - at least in the verse. however, this track has my least favorite vocals.

don't worry groovy i will never throw it away. lol

Devin, I have to say something here...the only thing that seems to be
holding you back at the moment is your present surroundings...do you
see any change forthcoming in the near future?

I also have to say your determination to get to where you want to be
and your great sense of humor about yourself are two very admirable
attributes to have... thumbs up!
