Musican's forum

Thanks to JDODSON and others who suggested a forum for musicians on the org to come and converse about themselves, their influences, their technique, etc.

Feel free to announce your gigs here!

No offense but how come this forum is the third from the top right after Prince & Non-music?
Must know some one to be cutting in line like that!

JDODSON

Thank you so much, Ben, for realizing our talent and allowing us to share our music with the world on a website that relates to the type of music, (Prince esp.) that most of us really enjoy. For some of us, our music doesn't really appeal to some folks in the general public, because most don't dig funk, jazz, r&b, progressive rock, and other types of music that we play. And with me, I play spiritual funk most of the time, and it is hard enough getting support from so-called "Christians" because most of the ones I meet are so into that melodramatic "Jesus is good" type of elevator Christian music, that they tend to brand my music "secular" without even giving it a try. So, this forum will greatly give us the opportunity to express our creativity.

Peace,
JD

Well said Jason. This is exactly true, because I cannot really categorize my music. All I know is that I make it the best it can be, and I just play what I feel. I don't worry what catagory it may fall in, yet I hope people will get the feeling I'm trying to put across. Nothing stumps me more than, "So what kind of music do you write?"

Music is truly the international, universal, beautiful language.

First Sweden gives the world the Hives, now this.

Da Silva is AMAZING.

Well produced with funk and gospel mix.

Let us all know when the album comes out and more importantly, when you'll be in the States. This has got to be experienced live.

JDODSON, I want to write the same type of music but it means that I need to add vocals to my music and I'm not happy with my voice. Maybe I should try some of those vocal effects programs to keep myself on key and sounding good. I really like your stuff by the way. Positive and fun to listen to.

Vina, I don't know how to classify my music either. I put together an mp3.com page and didn't know which genre to pick, so I picked electronic-abstract, that covers a lot of ground I think. I'm still waiting for them to approve my page.

Cloud 9, your music is awesome. I hope I can do as well. Sounds like you play a lot of your own instruments. Very cool.

Everyone else, I'll be checking out your sites and music soon. Thanks for sharing.

I play all my instruments. Anything you hear on my site (unless otherwise stated) is me wink. Best of luck with your mp3.com site. It seems Im the only one here getting rid of my mp3.com site now, everyone else is getting one.

Gonna have my site all self contained by christmas only used mp3.com to sell my album quickly. I'll be running all myself soon.

Yes, thanks to JDODSON (et al) for this forum. Nice place to get together and truly vibe from those that actually have something creative and inspiring to offer.

I have been inspired by Prince, as well, to learn many instruments long ago. Though I have a long way to go, I am pleased to learn different qualities and personalities of various instruments.

Cool! I look forward to hearing your stuff. Electronic-abstract sounds like a great catagory! I may be able to fit into that one too. I'm going to work on putting some demos down as mp3s, just so you guys can hear what I'm working on. I'm not sure if I'll put them up on mp3.com or on my own webspace. We'll see. mr.green
