Musicians in MPLS! Hello,
I was hoping you could tell me about the MUSIC scene here so I can check out some shows. If you're performing... I can even check out your show. =^) I arrived in MPLS last night and I will be here until Saturday night. I would appreciate it if anybody could suggest what to see and do around here too. Mainly though, I really am curious about the MUSIC scene. Thank you and take care!

Well, what kind of music are you into? Its a big city, so we have every kind of music, 7 nights a week. I'm actually playing a show tomorrow, but its in the next city, St Cloud, which is an hour out of MPLS.
First off, the so called "MPLS sound" is dead. However, we have an awesome hip hop scene and and awesome indie rock scene. The really cool thing is these two scenes are intertwined. We do shows together, we're in each others projects. We have hip hop groups who sample local indie records and punk bands with rappers. There is a highly recommended hip hop show at First Ave on Saturday night with the Doom Tree crew, featuring national up and comer P.O.S. http://www.myspace.com/po...ningmylife I would definately check out Leroy Smokes at the Triple Rock on Friday: http://www.myspace.com/leroysmokes

Of course, you could see St Paul (from the Family) tomorrow: http://myspace.com/stpaulpeterson Actually I saw them Thursday night....cool Christmas show....most of them are really talented...(3rd generation is a bit 'iffy' at this point...the really young ones anyway). But given time who knows. Anyway, the best part of the evening was talking with Paul and acquiring his autograph on the Peterson family's newest Christmas CD called "blessings". This is a pre-release however and isn't due out till 2007...that would make it a tenth anniversary since their last family album. I found Paul very easy to talk to....nice man, seems very down-to-earth, kind. The song he put together and sang with his sister Patty brought me to tears, called "Silent America". It's a beautiful rendition of "Silent Night" and "America The Beautiful" (on the new album btw). I was such a "Family" fan with Paul, Suzanne, and former members of "The Time", it was a treat to finally meet him..... Now then Spark, wipe that look offa your face..

Thank you all! Well, I didn't really end up finding some good MUSIC. hehe I had an interesting walk around Downtown though. I saw First Ave, The Target Center and a few other things in that area. I hope to go back again and when I do, I will be sure to give more notice so I can check out those of you whom are a part of the Prince.org community! =^) If you're ever heading to Arizona for any strange reason... let me know! Next up is Detroit I think in about 3 or 4 weeks....hmmmm.
