I have been a competitior in beauty pageants since I was about 5 years old, and I'm 20 now. About three years ago, I started sketching many of my own dresses and other outfits (because I got tired of other people taking credit for the clothes). I have always liked Prince's style and one outfit I saw him in was just BEGGING to be made into a sportswear outfit. (Sportswear is usually a glitz outfit--mostly a pants suit, that the girl models.) I have posted below, the photo of Prince in the outfit, the orginal sketch and an enhanced sketch (My scanner scanned it lighter than it actually is.)

As you can see it's a red and PURPLE take on P's all white lace ensemble and mine includes red rhinestoned lace gloves and a red rhinestoned lace cape.(All the red in the photo is supposed to be rhinestoned lace.

I'd wear it along with the make-up.

and lets not forget the jewellry.....

It's a nice sketch.....but do you feel you'd have more of a chance
winning if you made your own outfit? Just curious a little....
What is the talent that you do now for the pageants?

I think this would look really cool. Do you think it really needs the cape though?

@ Obsessed: I don't actually sew the outfits, I make the sketch and I take it to a seamstress who makes it. She's been making my clothes since I started competing. I actually sing for my talent. The outfit is for a modeling part of the pageant.

@ The Spark: The cape is great. Alot of sportswear outfits have jackets or capes or something that comes off. It's prettier and offers and element of surprise and heck, it's just flashier. And flash helps to win!

your own outfit? I really wasn't thinking of actually 'sewing', but hey,
that's a talent as well... I do believe you answered the other part

@ Obsessed--Well, I just like to have something original that no one else has because in the pageant world, a lot of pageant outfits are constantly bine resold. So a lot of girls are wearing the same outfits that many judges maay have seen a year or two before on a different child. (And if the judges are like me, they'll remember the outfit.) True story: I know a pageant girl that I met when she was 8 years old. And she had an absolutely stunning green westernwear outfit that her mom bought second hand. The little girl is now 16 years old and over the years, I've seen that particular outfit on no less than 5 OTHER girls! I just like individuality!

Then individuality it shall be...

Although I know nothing about pageants, I can probably 'see'
where the judges would remember that sort of thing...it's kinda
their duty I suppose....

Good thing I'm not a judge then....I'd be kicked off the panel in no time
