SUICIDE GIRL : Kill Yourself with a Listen

Here is a song I've had floating on my hard drive for a while, finally decided to sing it and mix it.

I just recently updated my monitors and would like to know how the mix translates to other systems.

All comments welcome.

thanks.

It sounds really good - a little bottom/boomy and the snare sometimes sounds too tiny, but I'm nit-picking here. If this was on the radio, I wouldn't think twice about it.

Oh - okay - the kick drum. That's what it is. It's got a lot of bommmm to it. In my headphones at least. Wow this sounds really good.

What are you using to record, and can you come to my house with it.

For me it's the snare being a bit tinny.....but otherwise, it's all good. cool

u must have remixed it because it did not sound bassy enough in my AKG headphones. the mix was good except the distorted guitar sounds were a bit loud. other than that I love your style. great job.

Thanks for checkin out the tune Beau..

I went into guitar center, drooling with my brand new discover card. I thought about getting a variax, I remember you had one, right? Anyway I decided against that and looked into a RTA to tune my room, because I have some new digs and wasn't sure as to what I was hearing anymore. No RTA, so then I turned to these JBL4328p's which had the ability to tune to your room. $1400 - Impulse kicked in and there went my discover card balance. These speakers are like having new set of ears, I have no regrets purchasing them.

I've never had monitors that allowed me to hear the low end of a song before. It takes a little getting used to. I still have my audix 1A's, my sony headphones and my soundblaster cambridge speakers for reference. The audix 1A's were a slight bit boomy, but the headphones and cambridge sounded decent so I just tamed the low end a bit. I definitely left a ton of bass freqs in there though, maybe too much.

no remix smile I guess it just goes to show no matter how you think the song sounds sonically, everyone is going to hear it differently. Thanks for the encouragement, I always appreciate your comments.

Hey Toy!

I always love your sound. The first thing I thought when your vocal started was "Wow, he sounds better than ever!" Great vibes as always. I wish I knew how to make my stuff sound as good as yours.

Toy,

The music is very good and I like the structure of it, but the vocal arrangement needs to change -- it's too much empty space there, and you should rewrite the lyrics. I'm more of a story teller when I write, so when I see the the title "Suicide Girl", I want to hear about her. Who was she? What did she mean to you?

Good luck with it.

thank you LadyQ - This is actually part 1 of 16. This song is actually part of a suicide opera and in the next 15 parts I will describe how she transends into the afterlife.

a little taste...

After she finally "does herself in" she awaken to find herself in an empty room. As her eyes adjust to her new surroundings she notices the walls to be made of a thick mist. The room itself appears to be floating within a vast nothingness. At this point she realizes she is not alone. As she turns her head, she sees a man sitting in a wooden chair smiling at her from underneath a black round oval hat and stylish but gaudy attire. She recognized him at once.

It's her pimp!

"Hey biatch", he says, "where's my money?"

For a moment she looks at him as though suffering has no end and finally replies, "Toy, hey baby what are you doing here?"

lol

Sorry I couldn't resist

Direction is overrated. Its about making music, how we make music, sharing what we make, learning from what we share, and then making more. So I agree... Make more music.
