Latino piano

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone advise me on latin style piano playing. I'm thinking of the solo in Get on the Boat at about 3min.12sec into the song. There is a kind of call and respone between the base (which seems to be descending) and the treble. Its also present at the start of Renato's solo on The Balld of Dorothy Parker on the It Ain't Over cd 3min 29sec. It's a very typical salsa sound, but I can't seem to get a handle on it. I would be very grateful if someone could let me know what that is and/or some info on good books etc.. for lessons. Its something I would really like to incorporate into my playing.
Thanks in advance.
