Well for starters ... the ambulence bill is going to be at least 550 bucks. That's what it was 3 years ago when my wife was in a car accident. She was pregnant with my daughter so they rushed her to the hospital. I'm sure that cost has went up with everything else. Seriously though, thanks for the kind words buddy. I remember the medical insurance said the car insurance should pay for it, and the car insurance said the medical insurance would pay for it. Well ... 6 months rolled by and both still refused, then the fire department handed it over to a collecion agency so we ate toast, macaroni and cheese and some ramin noodles for a month to pay it in full as to keep it from going to the credit score people. "We-sa livin' pay-teck ta pay-teck like moat people deez days" SO ... if anyone is in need of some media work, give them my info! Print/Video/Web ... etc. I have a new medical insurance now, so I'm sure I should be pulling out the booklet to read all the fine print before making that call. I bet that bill went into the mail yesterday morning. They get you coming, going and sideways. Ambulence: 550 (at least) ER visit: 100 co-pay ER Misc. stuff: 300 co-pay Lyquid Steroid: 40 co-pay Antibiotic: 40 co-pay Some other thing I can't remember: 40 co-pay THANK GOD FOR INSURANCE! Otherwise, your looking at 5-7 grand, easy. Grand(ted), my son's well being is top priority first and foremost and this other stuff is an after thought but it still gives daddy diarea just thinking about the finacial aftermath. I know we'll still get through it. "One day at a time." Ohh, but if I could turn my liquid poo into $. They're both green. All Rights Reserved. |

Jeez, like I haven't been worried enough about every little thing already, you add something new to the mix that I've never even heard of. Seriously, though, I wish you guys the best - I'm sure everything will be ok. I'm sure it totally scared the SH#T out of you, though. So, is there a medical term for babies that can send their liquid poop out of the top of their diapers? My child just loves to SHART!
We call that "some antigravity sheez" as in, "hey, that son of yours has some antigravity sheez waiting for you". www.beaurocks.com Trees are made of WOOD!

Yes, it's called "hurry up and wait". At about 6 months of age, you'll be giving him solid foods, creating - solid poop. However, I favor the traditional method of rubbing their nose in it yelling bad baby, bad baby! ... JUST KIDDING! (I promise) lol is here

Moderator | Thus far, he wakes up several times a night with a really bad cough. But he's been pretty good through the days.
Now the daughter has the same cough. She seems to be doing good though. Pray for as well! All Rights Reserved. |

I'm so sorry about your little boy, I do hope he grows out of it. I understand in a way because my daughter suffers from asthma and I can't tell you how many ER visits I made racing down the street with her. She's almost 10 now so she seems to be outgrowing it, plus I have all the steroids in the world here so I can pretty much handle it here at the house.
Don't even get me started on hospitals. A long time ago I was doubling over having a miscarriage and the chick at admissions was yelling (yes, yelling) at me about how much it was going to cost - I made arrangements and paid the bill. And insurance companies, what a joke. LQ

And insurance companies, what a joke. LQ We were really scared that it might be asthma. I understand that can make for MANY scary moments. I'm glad to hear your little one is growing out of it. We're getting the resistance from the insurance company already. They are denying the claims from 2 months ago (doctor visits) saying they are not my primary insurance company. WTF? Nothing has changed. This isn't the first time. I've had to call them on this before. Their only response is that it must have been a "system error". I have a different company for dental, but that's it. All Rights Reserved. |

Glad to hear the problem has been diagnosed and you have knowledge of what to do if it reocurrs. Most frightening thing to see your child struggle to breathe . I had experiences with my son when he was a toddler and got a virus , his temperature would shoot up (104) , he'd turn blue, I'd have to give him mouth to mouth till ambulance arrived. Called a Fibrile Convulsion. Thank God kids "grow out" of these things. Best wishes Kelly and family ... hope you feel some sense of control now. ~PClinuxOS~ I've been here longer than I care to remember, ... I drop in from time to time, ...

My goodness! Reading that, the wife and I really should take the child CPR classes they offer around the community. We wanted to before my son was even born, but the $$$ never showed up. Then again, I'm sure we could have skipped a few movies, dinners, etc. At the time, we're thinking ... well, this is probably the last time we'll eat out for a while. That's scary. Definitely, definitely get your CPR class in. They aren't expensive and if you get them through the Red Cross they're good for 2 years, but many community colleges offer them also.
Also, ask your doctor if your son responds to epinephrine (sp?) I call them epi-shots. It's nothing but adrenaline. I know many severe asthma sufferers and those who are allergic to bee stings and peanuts keep these shots at home. They can show you how to administer them. Ask your doctor if you can benefit by having one in the home, so if he has this reaction again, you can immediately administer the shot (in the leg usually). I don't have an epi shot because my daughter's asthma was never that bad and the hospital is just down the street, but I know a couple of parents who have these and carry them in their purses. LQ

sounds nightmarish. Hospital staff is commonly rude and inconsiderate, I blow up at least once when a family member is in the emergency room, no excuse for attitude at a time like that.

Goodness!
my boys are all a fair bit older and my eldest had croup 3 weeks ago, which for a nearly 6 year old was not too bad - he had to sleep in my bed 3 nights as he'd wake up distressed each night and cough (like a seal barking!) for an hour or so, the first night his temp was really high and he hallucinates when he's feverish (poor baby!) BUT we had visited my sister (her son is 12 months) the day my son came down with it and within the week she was telling me more or less what you just told me. They were in the ER in the early hours 3 nights straight really scary.
