Opening The Vault Hello peeps,
It's time to let you all look inside of my old wrecka vault. These are a few of my old and I mean old 4 track mono demos. They were recorded probably before some of u were born This is an example of the music from this time era. This is what it was like to be a budding songwriter from 20 years ago. The equipment used on these songs were very minimalist. I used a Fostex 4 track recorder, with a Korg DW 6000 keyboard, a Casio CZ-101 keyboard, a Kawai R-50 drum machine and an old spring reverb unit and a cheap Shure Prologue mic. Around 1987 the Kawai K-1 keyboard was added with a Alesis Midiverb II. These songs are not polished for distribution but were mere rough drafts for my ears only. Fast forward 20 plus years and thousands of songs later, I never bothered to go back and clean these jams up. Now I listen to these with an appreciation of where I have come from as a writer and as a person. I think it is time to take myself less seriously and let you all hear some of these ancient gems. I will continue to release a jam or two here and there just to keep things fresh around this joint. Enjoy...P.S. these songs are pre-gospel songwriting days. Also, there was no sequencing. This was recorded the old fashioned way. These are great! They sound very much like early to mid 80's prince, and the time. More of the latter tho i would say. Good stuff. "Man, the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system" - Bruce Lee

You sound like you could have been a producer for Andre Cymone! Have you ever heard Andre's "Livin' in the New Wave"? This is very VERY close to that sound! A.W.O.L and Hey Little Sister (the latter being my favorite cauz you know I likes the FUNK) are excellent! You should remake those two, and, you outta let me put vocals on Hey Little Sister! Very cool stuff! Z7

I was trying to exist in the here and now, but for some reason I felt the need to "letitgo"(the past). It really is therapeutic considering all that I have been through lately. I am a little disappointed that some of my main org friends around here did not comment on these songs. I always try to participate when they post a song but who knows why people do what they do.

I wanna reamke Hey Little Sister too. Unfortunately, my friend borrowed my keyboard so I am only able to produce stale beats at the moment. Let Me be The One also. I wish the vocals on these songs were more clear. The way u singing on these songs only couldve came from the time you wermaking them because its hard to have lyric arrangements that sound straight out of the 80's without sounding cheesy (as my friend J put it to me). I like this one the best Straight Jacket Funk Affair
