Moderator | HOLY HAIRY, SMACK-SUICIDE, SEXY-SMOOTH-SUNRISE! (and some chick named yolanda) LOOK WHAT I FOUND! YAMOMMA'S UNFORGETTABLE, UNIMAGINABLE, LOST, UNEDITED, UNCENSORED, SHOCKING, STUPENDOUS, RARE and RADICAL BOOTLEG RECORDINGS !!! Click to hear what the critics are saying Yes, they were thought to have been lost forever. UNTIL NOW! In helping Zeta with a new project, I was fumbling through some boxes looking for a CD, when I came across some old cassette tapes. None of them are marked, so I put a few in to see what they were. WHOAH! Look what I found! Before marriage, before children, I was just getting my junk together. I had recently left the chef biz and had my eye back on art. I've always had a hand in something creative whether it was cooking, painting, drawing, photography or music. Totally direction-less. "My lost days" ... Whatever. I started attending these bible studies and that's when I met Mr. Frank Axtell. Frank was just going through a seperation and I had just lost my father and best friend within the same year. We clicked right away. Not exactly a "Mysery loves Company" senerio, but a "Hey, let's keep busy" one. Around when I first met my future studio partner, I started camping out at his studio. Funny how I have to say STUDIO PARTNER these days, "Partner" alone seems to ... uh ... no, not me sir. Anyway ... That's when multi-media and the internet was REALLY getting more mainstream. I had found my creative space in my head again and thanks to God and Frank, I found my nych. Now all my creative ventures made some scense. Now I could mix all those elements in this thing called Multimedia. Everything else just fell together after that. Not always smoothly or as fast as I had hoped, but together none the less. Here's some crazy, downright freaky and at some points, almost embarrassing recordings from 1997. I guess my wife was right, I was very different when she first met me. Please enjoy. Best on headphones. Seriously. Recorded all in one take with Frank behind the keys (2 of them) and an old DOS sequencer. Vocals by me, with Frank shifting the effects. Complete improv and some pretty cool magical moments. When we used to play around like this, we'd run a live mix into the cassette tape deck because frankly, DATs and ADATs are expensive. All of this was recorded live to a tape deck but the quality ain't too bad at all! 2 AM http://kellymcclain.net/2am.mp3 (12:59) 17.8 MB Consider this one my Public Service Announcement. This one scares the crap out of me. No I wasn't on drugs, but the character I fell into will give Bob George (the orginal inspiration) a run for his money. It starts out in that vain and slightly comical, but gets REALLY, REALLY DARK. I mean, "where was my head?" Dark. That boy ain't right, dark. Ok, this next set I was going to just give you the last bit, but I figured I'd start from the beginning so you could hear the warm up. This thing is about a half hour long, so I broke it up into 3 parts. Now that I look at them, I probably could have broken it up into 5 parts. But, it's almost 3 am. I'm done with this. Burned to CD, ready to leave with the wife for when she wakes up. I don't think she ever heard this stuff as it was a year or two before we even met. Really, you can skip the first two as they are just warm-ups to the third part. They only serve as "how stella found her groove". Sunrise Sex Suite (pt I) http://kellymcclain.net/SSS1.mp3 (5:10) 7.10 MB Warming up to the groove that Frank was laying down with the lyrics of Hair. (Larry G) Here is where I learned I can't sing. Hey, you gotta try, right? Sunrise Sex Suite (pt II) http://kellymcclain.net/SSS2.mp3 (3:00) 4.12 MB Still not finding the words, setting, story. This little expieriment was all about improv, so I continued with "Blues in C". Some of you may know that one from the "Livesexy" video. Still knowing the singing ain't working but finding a middle with the spoken word. Sunrise Sex Suite (pt III) http://kellymcclain.net/SSS3.mp3 (15:46) 21.66 Ok, here is where I found what I was looking for and Frank and I just clicked. Here is where I realized I was better at spoken word. Leave singing up to someone who can. It's long, but never boring. It's a big file, but you'll be glad you downloaded it. I gave myself a woody on this one. Deffinately in a zone. I dare you to give it a spin. Remember, none of this was written. Totally made up on the spot. Sure there's the obvious influences ala scandalous ... but whatever ... listen already. I was going to put these away, but my friend (you guys would remember him from the "Thursday Night Jam Sessions" I used to post a long time ago) Danny dared me to put these on the internet. So I pulled out my tape deck from the front of the studio and broght it back to my MAC and ran a line in. Got absolutely NOTHING done tonight, but at least I got these little Yamomma history gems preserved. LESSON LEARNED? Keep the tape rolling. You get some cool stuff when you least expect it or when your not trying to do something perfect or final. What's even better is hard-disk recording these days, you can just dump out the mistakes with the delete key. OK! Was it good for you? Was I what you wanted me to be? Did you need a cigarette after that? Did you have to change your underwear? You touched yourself, didn't you? Don't lie. Tell me all about how you wanted to doo-oo-me baby! All Rights Reserved. |

Moderator | I just noticed I got an odd mix. When I ran it out of the tape deck, I had a Y cable that ran from left and right channels out into an extension, then into a stereo jack into the computer. It seems like the keys that were really fat lost a lot of their fullness. and in some areas, they dropped considerably. I think it lost it's stereo-is-i-ty.
Of course when I was packing up last night, I found the cable I was looking for in my bag. Dur ... Looks like I'll have to re-dub this again. All Rights Reserved. |

I like the SSS- you are right, you sure can hear the influence from Scandalous in there alot.
My favorite is 2AM. That is the JAM. I like that the best of anything you have ever done. Very funky. All this stuff was heavily influenced by The Black Album, Lovesexy, or Sign o the Times. They have that dark and funky feel to them with the background analog synth in low keys- I love it! Excellent stuff, man! Gimme more of that funk like the 2AM jam! Z7 | |

I'll see if I can't do another transfer one night. 2 am gets pretty freaky from the middle on doesn't it? When you haven't heard it in such a long time, it's really wierd to hear yourself that way. You know, we were different people 9 years ago. I found another tape of me that same night when I was about 8 or 9 but that's another story and won't be making it's way on the internet.
