Playing Funk guitar im doing the transition from rock to funk,
and i need some tips i think i got the chord theory down its percussive and should be played on the back beat but the technique im having trouble with the muting of the chords, traditionally i learned how to do palm muting of the strings but i was told this is the wrong way to do it and the muting should be done with the fretting hand this was alot harder than i expected even plaing simplistic rhythms the muting is the hardest part can anyone give me tips on how to mute or to use which fingers? anything would help thnx I am a Rail Road, Track Abandoned

It's not that bad - just mess with it for awhile and you'll get the hang of it. The way you mute with your fretting hand is to relax your fingertips until you're just touching the strings instead of fretting them.
I have a podcast that talks about it - www.funkmusician.com - just go do a search on itunes for it. www.beaurocks.com Trees are made of WOOD! | |
