Brand spanking new track from Richard Hill

Hi Guys,

I've been busy working on the new album which will be called 'Performance'. Its not totally finished but should be done and dusted for May. The first track is called 'Pointless Conversation' and is available off my soundclick site.

I'm always keen to know what the rest of you orgers think, so feel free to feedback. This is a much darker sound than my previous stuff but the new CD is quite varied

Thanks for your support guys!

Seems there's not enough space between your voice and everything else. Also seems there should be a tad bit more delineation of some of the instruments.

Other than this, I really like the track. Love your voice, hook is sweet. Love the title. I would so add this to my playlist.

Must check out your other stuff.

I hear ya man on that subject..

I think your vocals should be brought to the fore.

Nice melody, but no real chorus to stick with. The music is nice though, the drum patter (the snare) is what Im enjoying the most.

Do you mean lyrically? 'cause that's the sweetest part of the song...melodically, anyway.

No like today I cant remember what the chorus sounds like..I remember the music, but not what was said ..the theme...I mean I remember what it was about but it was missin the hook.

i.c., I can't remember the words either but the melody stayed in my head for a day. Right, the chorus changes up but doesn't it open and close the same way? with "pointless conversation"(I have to listen again). They do that a lot in country music. Anyway, it won't matter that you don't automatically remember all the words, you still anticipate it and you know how it opens and closes.

When you can't get it out of your head (melody and/or lyric)...that's a good thing.

I know. The music stood out the most though, the vocals are kinda in the back too.

Zeta

Those who previously posted need to listen to how FUNKY the song "Love Sex Romance" is. Excellent stuff, Richard.

hi all, cheers for the thoughts. I was going for an etheral feel on this tune -i wanted the vocals to be a little washy so that everything kinda swirls in the mix.But i still wanted the production to go somewhere so it gradually builds up to churning thump (thats the best way i can describe it anyway!). It was written as a rock song but i got bored of that idea so i had a rethink and thats the result.

EmbattledWarri
or

Its got a trip hop feel with a pop twist...
You need to bring up the vocals and add reverd and some compression.
so they can be spacey just like the song

i think to add to its element you could add a nice electric guitar to cut through the ambience.

those are my twocents
good stuff all in all

Funny you should say electro guitar, the new album has quiet a few soring solo's.

Yeah i was just doing a little experimentation with loops and programs on this tune. I've taken the sample option off the web so you can all hear the full track

Cheers
