For me there is no difference, if I like it I like it.

musicianship, live instrumentation, vocal acrobatics, great sample choices (in todays' music)

2) What compels you to buy music that you like as opposed to downloading or pirating free music?
people that I've supported throughout the years (i.e. Mary J. Blige, Kelis, Outkast, Jay-Z). The past few years of my life I've been buying more vinyl than anything (Prince, Chaka & Rufus, Stevie & Wonderlove [Minnie, Deniece, Syreeta], Earth Wind & Fire, etc.)

3) Are you a fan of independent music or just music in general?
I love music in general, but I'm more of a fan of the "unheard"... since I', an artist myself... I get into that

4) When buying music, is the price of the CD even an issue if you really like the artist?
depends... I don't spend over $10 for a new release... if it's a classic, then I negotiate

5) If original music from independent artists was readily available and had greater recognition, as much as the majors do, would you support independent music as much as you do what's on the radio or would you support it moreso than you support the majors?
definitely, I would support in the same fashion that I do now.

6) What excites you about a new music artist? How do they get your attention?
difference... Kelis for example. She's IN YOUR FACE, and I LOVE THAT!!!

I bought some vinyl a few days ago... Dionne Warwick, Chanson, MFSB, Millie Jackson, Peabo Bryson, The Emotions (all for $5)

yes... I give the unheard preference over what's popular. I have musician friends all over who hip me to young, fresh & new artists.
