OLD VAULT MUSIC

Hey peeps, how about everybody dig into their OLD cassette tapes and post some songs for laughs. Let's put together a collection of songs written back in the day that is gritty, unpolished, and purple. Can we do it? I don't have mine up yet, but let me know if you peeps wanna do it.

peace Tal

I was just talking to jshua about that the other night.

I'll first have to rig a tape player to the computer.

I'll try to dig some stuff up... I just got a new computer so I gotta find things on my backup copies. This could also give me a chance to try out recording on my new system from tape.

I just got the Edirol UA-25 USB Audio Capture interface from Sweetwater. It has the jacks to go from my cassette player. I actually have my old 4-track still out because it's the only thing that will give me the 'camille' type vocals if I want them. I'm in!

I have it, but everytime I try to upload a cassette, I get a "tascam cassette drive cannot be located" error.

Dang!

I'll find some of the goodness. Shoot Tal, you already got a copy from way back longago.

I just re-hashed an oldie, re-recorded it for the Southern Rawk project I'm trying to get into. (selling a song to somebody, cuz, oh hell no I'm not doing the Southern Rock tip, thanks).

Oh - THAT stuff. Well, I got some stuff from that era, but the full band demos I did were in real studios. I was thinking even older than that, back when I was just a baby orger... yeah - you know you got some great stuff from that era as well - lot's o synth hits, handclaps and jheri curls!

FALSE HOPE (edit: recorded in a 8-track studio in 1988 or 89):
This beauty was written when I bought my first telecaster, and found that opening chord by accident, (I think it's called a CRAP MINOR but I could be wrong). The DJ said this song reminded him of Cheap Trick, but, obviously, he hadn't heard of the Chili Peppers at that time.

I'm POSITIVE that the cassette player used to create this mp3 is going too fast. I might go back and re-convert this thing. This is STIL one of my favorite songs I ever wrote... it's just quirky.

Hey now, I don't have old stuff on tapes. Come to think of it, the oldest things I own are photos and Prince albums. If I had some more time (work/school) I record something and make it mono just for this thread lol

hey V, I am on myspace but on this site, we are all Prince fans and musicians in the same boat. This is where I come first. I think everyone is in lurking mode. Everybody needs to put their cloaking device on standby and get with the program. I remember a time when there was so much going on that I could hardly keep up, but now it is like eek
