Which pc would you buy?

I've got a "No Interest" deal at Circuit City, so I was trying to decided which one to buy. Any suggestions? I need to be able to run Reason at Sonar at the same time. I also want a DVD-R drive.

I bought my son a new pc at Best Buy and it was an HP with a DVD burner with a 160gig HD with printer for 349.00 . The clock speed is somewhere around 3ghz. He loves it.

I have a Sony Vaio for a desk top. They are a well rounded multimedia Computer often with enough power to do everything from Video, music and such memory intense processes. I know circuit city does sell Vaios. I would push you hard toward that computer. wink

I am NOT a big fan of Sony electronics. However I have to say their computers are some of the best off the shelf computers on the market.

I'd buy the http://www.circuitcity.co...tDetail.do if you want to keep the tightest budget. This one has enough memory (1Gb) and a fast enough processor to everything you want. Get a nice 17" monitor with it, they cost like $225, and u can do whatever you want.

If you'd prefer a wellknown brand take this one: http://www.circuitcity.co...tDetail.do. This one is slightly more expensive though. Bot will do the job...

I'm a fan of dell.com and put together different options just to see the costs and make a decision from there. Then they finance as well and I've bought 3 PCs from them but their tech support is a joke.

But if u got the money available now, and u have a friend that can build the PC for u, I would buy all the individual hardware from online shops and then put it together yourself. This would give u the most bang for your bucks.

Actually, I have two PCs and one Mac so I do "get it" (and by 'it' I mean pop-ups, viruses, etc.)

So what else am I missing?

Why don't you all start a pc vs. mac thread? I'm not interested in macs at this time. Thank you.

I know, I know ... In the end, it almost sounds like a Ford vs Chevy debate.

All jokes aside, just looking out for you and what (in my opinion) would be best for you in the long haul and less (if any) hastles you may have already experienced. I use both platforms and macs work best for me in what I do. If I were to get another PC it would probably be a Vaio from what I've read if that's the answer you are looking for.

All I'm saying is before you throw down some hard earned $ on a new machine at least go to an Apple store and give one a spin. And ... If it's not in the current budget, please wait until it is. Re-reading your initial post it sounds like you already have your mind made up ...

... and I'll shut up there. I promise.

I don't have that much money to spend... or rather, I'm trying not to add too much more to my debt. I just need to get my ideas down and move a step up. The Vaios look cool, but they are too expensive, and Macs are worse from what I gather. My point is, I've been using a 600 Mhz pc all this time... Just gotta move up a little bit.

I agree. I hunted around and did comparison shopping and found Sony Vaio to be the best for my (affordable) price range. I got the flat screen moniter/17". I luv it. It's fast.the music is great...and my co-sharer does all his ipod stuff with it.
Also, I got a bargain because the box had been opened. No packing materials had been removed, nothing had been removed from the box however the salesman gave me a $120. discount.(nice guy)
The good part....I found this site...and now "here I am in front of my "new" keyboard exchanging cyber-conversations with all you fine folks"
So I say in agreement ..."go sony"...
star yes xmas
i love you for who you are, not the one u feel u need to be.
My star shines bright ....even in the darkest night...star
