Did you sign up as an artist on MYSPACE? I find that http://www.myspace.com is actually a great way to promote your music as well as network with other musicians and industry people. You wouldn't believe how many of your favorite artists/labels have a page on there.

You can check my MySpace page at www.myspace.com/johnmyersmusic where there are four tracks (and one for free download!). It's free and is a cool thing to have if you use it as a complement to your main artist website, in terms of having different audio/written content. | |

Mmm - I dunno - I'm still in debate about the "great place to network/build a following/get people out to a show" idea. I got almost 500 people, and of that MASSIVE collection, I've seen 3 at shows. That I met, THRU myspace. But, like anything, you gotta "do the work", lol. That means developing a relationship with the people on your friends list. Its like seeing a flyer on a telephone pole, vs. going to see a band with your friends in it. The secret handshake is to leave comments, send messages, pic comments...get to KNOW these peeps and they'll come to support you because you're their friend. I've got 1600 people and they're mostly all local for me. Here's my CD release show...the ONLY promo we did was at myspace.  | |
