LISTEN to 'NO WAY OUT' and 'RUSH HOUR'

Hey guyz
If you have some free time you might wanna out check out my two brand new tracks. Which is better? You tell me. As always your feedback would be highly appreciated.

Rush Hour
This one was supposed to imitate some of Patrice Rushen's 80's stuff and initially it did. However, later as I started adding other instruments, the song lost the PR vibe. Maybe I'll post the original version some time later as a Reprise or sth.

No Way Out
Now this is me trying to be electro-funky. It's kind of a tribute to one of my absolute fav groups of all time - Cameo (especially their 80's stuff).
Tried adding a guitar phrase around the end but the truck sounded overcrowded, so I droped that idea cool

Thanks for you time.

Later,
R07

Rush Hour is a nice mellow funky groove! I like this. Reminds me of something that Jody Watley would have done.

Thanks for the Jody Watley comparison. I love her (especially her Shalamar times).

So as for now it seems that Rush Hours is a winner.

I like the songs - but of all the funk out there, 80's electro funk is probably the one genre I like the least.

I'll still dig some of it, but as a genre, I compare it to the big-hair-metal of the same era... it was a glittery protective slip-cover over a genre to protect it from spills and stains... when both genres benefit BEST from spills and stains.

Um. not to detract from your songs. Sorry.

NO WAY OUT
It's very accomplished sounding stuff. You definitely nailed it on the head - if I didn't know this was new, I would DEFINITELY think it was an instrumental break on a Cameo song for sure. I'm guessing that the MP3 is what's making it sound very low-fi though. There's no real bottom to the stuff.

RUSH HOUR
As a guitarist first, songwriter/other instrumentalist second, I always prefer stuff to be more organic. Midi is a great thing, but when the song sounds as though almost all of it is from a program, from a critique standpoint, I'm not so much a fan. Again, this is just my own opinion and in no way am I saying this is garbage... just saying, as a guitarist, when I hear 47 layers of keys burying a guitar, MOST of the time, I feel like it's a shame.

That said, again, you've got a great piece of music here that I would expect to be on Beverly Hills Cop 2 or 3, except for the key sounds. If you upgraded your keys, it would sound very pro.

Overall, good job, it's a shame I'm not a fan of the genre.
