Vegas Hey friends, just got back from Las Vegas today. It was fabulous. I saw alot of street musicians pimping their craft and their CD's. My wife kept saying that I should stay there,do my thing and make it big. I was like, quit playing. For once I believe she could see the "big" picture. If u are an artist with a real desire to make it as a performer, get a portable rig of some sort and get a permit to do your thing in a city park or in front of a resort area. People are very receptive when they are in a place to spend money and have a good time.
I saw a sax dude playing his original songs as backing tracks while he played live. He was a Michael Bolton looking dude with a pink pimp suit on and playing like Kenny G. The crowd was eating it up. His P.A. was on the back of a flat bed chevy s-10 pick up truck. It was great. He would also sing a little bit. I also saw a two piece group with a guy on acoustic guitar and a guy playing some wooden recorders of various sizes. They also had a portable P.A. and played live to some backing tracks. They were also great. It might not be for everybody, but as a musician, it really inspired me to do whatever it takes to take it to the next level.

Aghhh...Now I wanna go to vegas.
I know what you mean. I'm currently having two jobs and attend full time studies but I feel that if I had a chance I would drop it all and become a musican. Wish I had the guts. ....and the skills All advice that I can give you is taken from Sister Act2 (how lame ). 'If after waking up the first thing on you mind is playing music than you are a musician' Sister Mary Clarrence I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

I agree, it's very inspiring to see people really go for it... but keep in mind all the sacrifices they make. If you got a family or a wife then it's not so easy. Do it locally like Beau is! Sacrifice all your spare time and work it boy! It's hard though, because for me, after working a full-time job I just want to chill sometimes, ya know? On the other hand, music is therapy...
