Review of my second book ME

Me is a natural progression of thought and action from the author’s previous book of poetry Questions. In this first anthology, the author challenged herself and readers to ask those hard questions and search for self truth, their genuine self, follow their dreams, and dare to be happy. In Me, the author attempts to put this hard fought wisdom into practice. She seeks to be truly herself and challenges her readers to do the same.

Being genuine isn’t always pretty and nice. Often there is pain and suffering that we normally run away from, stuff down, or try to ignore. The poems and reflections in Me share even these painful parts of the author: the voices that tell her she isn’t good enough, the crushing frustration of seeing someone she loves in pain, and the unhealthy ways she deals with so called negative emotions. Though these words are the author’s, the result is rather cathartic for the reader leaving him or her with a feeling of self-power and a deep need to be true and real for themselves even when it hurts or doesn’t look right to others. I am inspired.
