MIXING & MASTERING TIPS

Hey everybody,

I've got a question: Do you know any good website that teaches one tips on mastering and mixing? I'm hardly ever satisfied with how my songs sound. I know it'll never be like in pro studio but there has to be a way to make it sound more professional.

BTW Which mastering gear do you use?
Thanks.
I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

U could try downloading T-Racks 24. I use it for my recordings and it always helps to give it some extra punch and loudness. Especially when using the limiter the sound becomes much more "in yo face".

At home I have some links to mastering articles that could provide some knowledge, I'll post them when I get home. But remember mastering is often regarded as a "dark art": if it sounds better it is better. There are no specific rules in the end.

BTW, I really liked the sound of 'CAN I HAVE A LOOK'. You made a lot of progress already on your sound I think.

Thanks. I changed my gear. Funny thing is that I really put very little effort into this song. I think I did it in about 45 min. Anywayz as always you're way too kind. cool

Fuck man, if you really did this in 45 minutes you're a fucking genius! U nailed down that early 80's sound completely, u know I like the same stuff as you do.

Would be nice to do something together once, too bad u live in the States and not in Holland, hehe!

Sony has good plug-ins for your mixes.

I'm not a genius, just a lazy ass that's all. The song has no variations, nor bridges...it's rather simple.

Anywayz working with you would be beyond cool! We could try to do sth through the internet. I know it's not the same thing as studio work but we can always give it a shot. cool

The biggest obstacle is that I have no free time whatsoever...I have two jobs (both of which I hate BTW lol -- you see I'm trying to afford my college and a new stage piano right now) and study full time + some time ago I stared taking piano classes and I have to practice 1,5 hour DAILY razz .

But I would love to work with you. We must give it a chance in the nearest future.
