i seen my father today
laying in the rain
reading from a book
inorder to forget his pain
he was wet
and shaking from the cold
his eyes were blue
and he looked very old

i seen my father today
scared with open veigns
he was brusied
life for him had been nuforgiving
i look at him and all i could do
was to hold him in my thoughts
because he was to dirty to touch
and i saw myself in him

he was speaking to himself
crazed and demented
in a conversation that went in circles

i did not walk away
instead i stayed
for about 1/2 hour
just to see if he would reconize me

he didn't cause he was covered in shame

I asked him one question
"why do you hold on to me...
am i not free
or am i just a prisioner to all
the things u use to be
when you dreamed"

he looked at me
then reached out for me
and asked me if
i had a quarter
for something to drink
water from the holy river
he said he was thirsty for

and thats when i realized
no matter what i do in life
no matter where i go
no matter how hi
or how low

i am my father.
