I was on the radio today and talked about the New Funk Order.

So I had some things to do during my lunch break today and was driving in my car. We all know the decline of conventional radio for the last decade and over the last few months when I'm not listening to my own CDs in the car, I've recently found a talk radio show called "The Love Doctors".

They are too frickin' funny ... http://lovedocs.com

They opened the phone lines this afternoon to a specific topic and I called in and got on the air on the first ring.

I got 12 or 15 minutes of talking NFO stuff on the air this afternoon. Although owned by clearchannel they bash them every chance they get as well as modern radio programming and that's why they stick to talk radio.

I had a lot of fun promoting the site and they seemed to get a kick out of it. I elaborated on "Funk Music" and how you can still put on a George Clinton or Prince record and bob your head and that this genre has a "timeless" groove to it and that there are those (like us) that wish to keep that alive. When I was done, there were two more callers that called in that actually knew about the site and voiced their support. I had no idea that the site was actually known locally. I exchanged phone numbers with a recording studio down here that wanted to help out anyway they could. We'll see.

The station said that they couldn't get me a recording of the show but it will be re-aired tonight at 1 in the morning. I'll try to hang tonight and record it but I was about two hours into the show so that means I won't be on again until 3 am.

I'm cracking open a mountain dew as we speak.

Oh man that's AWESOME! That's a much better way to spend your storm aftermath, as opposed to last year's tree-cutting festival you attended.

You oughtta take them the disc - maybe they'll spin the tunes as background music - lots of great instrumentals on there. That's great about the 2 other callers too man. Way to go. I'm always surprised when I find somebody who knows about what I'm up to. I always just imagine my little group of friends are in on the club and nobody else.

Way to go man. WAY to go. What's the story on the live CD? I've got a gig coming up, I'll record it and have something for you.

I listened back last night at 3am. Man I sound like such a dork on the radio. They did say that on Fridays they play local music and that they would give the NFO a spin. All I have to do is send them the disks.

I'm on it.

No. Just a general overview on funk history, the online community and that you'd find some awesome original music for free. (Plus, if you'd like to support the projects, you could buy the album in it's conventional form) By the time I had that covered, my time was up. I'm sure I'll have more opprotunity when I send in the disks.

No guys ... Thank you!

Like I said, it wasn't so difficult to call my own local radio guys. Maybe some of you fellows could make that call too!

HEY! ... I should have recorded that freight train you snored over the phone! That was so wrong ... Is my music that boring? Heck it was only three minutes into the groove. What the heck?

Yeah, I called you out sucka! Fallin' asleep ... You called me man! I'm hurt. I guess that means I gotta revamp that whole song. Dawg.

Hey! Just got this in my inbox:

Hello smile I don't remember your name, but I heard you on the LoveDoc's the other day. First I want to say, THANK YOU for getting on corp. radio and talking about independent music, that was SO cool. I couldn't beleive I was in the car listening to someone who is just like me, a indie music lover, supporter and promoter.

I've spent many a hour thinking of a way to bring up the subject of indie music on realradio.. i just always thought that they really had no clue and would just hang up, but you Nailed it!

Please alow me to tell you about me and what I do. My husband and I live in Wellington, FL and we own an internet radio station that plays independent music only. Let's just say this, the intro page on your website is EXACTLY our view as well. We have 10-15 djs and we are live 24/7. We have a chatroom where the DJs, listeners and artists all interact with each other and there is always at least 10 people in there at any given time.

Our croud in the chatroom is a partycrowd, but they are mature and they LOVE FUNK! So I was wondering if we could work together. We would love to play any music you send our way. The fastest way to get music played is by filling out our band submission form here:

http://indieradiolive.com...;form_id=7

but please do check out the rest of the website http://www.IndieRadioLive.com We don't charge anything and just like you, we are all volunteers. I'd love to swap links with ya as well.. we try to do it all biggrin anything to get indie music heard and noticed.

Thank you so much again, for having the courage to call the Love Doc's and talk about a real issue.
Kathi

...forever listening,
Kathi
