Moderator | Katrina: Here she comes! Yeah, yeah ... Wrong forum and all.
Tis the season! Hurricane season that is ... and we're in the peak of it But most of you remember me posting last year when we got hit back to back by two of these mothers. Being without power for days at a time and our daughter was not even a week old! This one is not expected to be as strong, but a cat 1 is still a Hurricane and moving as slow as it is, it is expected to take 24 to 36 hours to move from the east coast to the west coast. Big Brother Beau! Keep me posted. Your like at command central for these things. All Rights Reserved. |

We're live as it happens. "Kelly, what's the general mood of the storm" Jokes aside, be safe. Big gusts are coming through. The wife and family are safe at home and they are watching T.V. Several large branches have fallen in the yard of the studio. Lots of fruit trees here. Sippin' Yuengling with the garage door open letting some fresh air in this joint. The good thing is that when this happened last year, there were several large branches that fell but were caught way up high in the trees. This wind has knocked a couple of them down that I couldn't reach before. I got a steep order from one of my major clients for tonight and I'm almost done. After that, it's all about the music. Thanks for the prayer tal! It's starting to get nasty, but not too terrible. Still have power at least. Almost done with what I have to do tonight then it's on to the project. Not that I care a whole lot, but I wonder how the VMA's are going to do this weekend with all the storms. They supposedly had a huge production planned around the entry. All Rights Reserved. |

Moderator | It's kinda quiet now. From Beau's camp, it looks like the eye is right on top of us. Obviously there is still power. I was kinda worried because last year the power went out for several days with the first mild gusts of wind. All Rights Reserved. |

Hope everyone's safe. When I saw the title of this thread in this forum, I immediately thought, "Wow, what a fantastic idea! Compose a musical experience of Katrina!!!" I like to listen to symphonic works about planets and such, so my mind just goes there. Maybe the punk rock orchestra could do something about her. Anyway, perhaps her power and energy and sounds will infiltrate your musical work somehow. I'm a big fan of radical weather. | |

Not again. U poor Floridians sure get your share of volatile weather. Maybe you should capture the sound of it on tape. Let's hear it.
Be safe YOYO. | |

Moderator | Hurricane Katrina made landfall south of Fort Lauderdale, Florida around 6:30 pm EDT with maximum sustained winds at 75 mph. Reports of wind gusts of 60 to 95 mph were widespread across southeast Florida with widespread power outages in the hundreds of thousands and tremendous tree damage. Fallling trees have been responsible for killing 2 people so far. Katrina is still a powerful hurricane and moving southwest with heavy flooding rains and damaging winds into early morning hours of Friday. Radar estimates and actual observations show about 8 to 12 inches of rain (with a possibility of upwards of 18") has fallen across extreme southeast Florida. Katrina will emerge into the Gulf of Mexico very early on Friday and explode back to a strong hurricane over the eatern Gulf of Mexico during the weekend. Katrina is then forecast to turn up toward the northern Gulf of Mexico with its rain track heading into the Florida Panhandle and Southeast. It will bring more damaging hurricane winds and flooding rains late Sunday into early next week. All residents living in these regions need to follow Katrina very closely for its future track and potential damage.
My wife called and said that the two deaths were from falling trees/branches. One person was struck by a fallen branch and the other, was hit by a falling tree in their car! This whole night, I was thinking that it wasn't going to be bad at all. All Rights Reserved. |
