Come Away ------? Its been a while since I've posted anything. I'm back at work on the tunes again so that's good. I guess sometimes you just have go live, write, go back and live, write. Wierd.
Anyway I'm interested in others opinions, good or bad. thanks toy http://www.soundclick.com...ndID=39458

I hate it... when noone responds. In the "Pop" category, it fits nicely. At first listen (lyrics are always blocked out), it sounds round. That is, no edge. If that's the intention, then I guess you nailed it! You get even more respect for performing everything, if that's the case. I'm no musician, but I relate to your idea of living a life inbetween "recording sessions." I do the same. If I keep it a hobby, it means alot more to me when the time comes to lay tracks. Don't lose that drive! Overall, a good progression lost by no edginess. I may have a different approach to music, though http://www.soundclick.com...ndID=95911 Thanks for posting, ToyStein! Schöne Gruß thanks for listening and responding. I appretiate your honest feedback. I wasn't really going for any kind of edge here, just a laid back tune. I play all the instruments and program the drums hit 4 hit within Sony Acid, then I track all the instruments and mix in Sonar. I'm always writing but sometimes you just don't get something truely honest until after you gain new experiences. You might not gain new licks during this time, but after a while you have a place to put your experiences, and that's really what life is: a transition from experience to experience. Being a songwriter and musician allows true release and a way to capture those moments. Thanks for the feedback toy

I kinda record everything "digitally with analog inginuity." I like to think that I would never do anything professionally. Life wouldn't be fun anymore. Schöne Gruß "Whatever skin we're in

Schöne Gruß Yea, I've been there... if you approach songwriting from a professional stand point it would be more difficult to obtain honest results, so F* that. I don't think I've ever gone there and I don't have any plans to in the future. songwriting is a craft, you either build your own parts or you purchase them. You can either be a craftsman or an "employee" in a manufacturing plant. I prefer to craft my own, but what do I know and who really gives a s*.

Sounds great man. Nice, crisp and clear.
The one thing that stands out in a bad way is the 1985 hi-hat sound. If there's anyway to get around just that one thing, the whole song would sound (TO ME) a bajillion times better. Dunno if you can do that. Everything else sounds great, GREAT. Good job mang. Great singing. www.beaurocks.com Trees are made of WOOD!

I'm really glad you take this approach! I think it to be much more honest without outside influence. You make it, then present it (at your discretion). I tried to be an "employee" with this music stuff and it only resulted in disappointment for both parties involved. I don't know if that means my take on that idea sucked, but I'd rather hear honesty instead. You're right in what you do, Toy! The production is great for a hobby!!! Nice job! I really dig your dreamy tunes. This one reminds me a bit of Sting. I love the breakdown in the middle... reminds me of Edie Brickel and the New Bohemians. Great mixing job too. I like the analog keys in the background. Nice guitar sound too. I'm finally getting back into writing myself... had a lot of living to do.

Solid production, nice song! I agree with Beau on the hihat thing, maybe you should try another one, or -even better maybe- combine two hihats to get a more lively sound. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Great singing. thanks man, I didn't realize how obnoxious the hh is, I seem to gravitate to crispy sounding hihats, mayby it would have meshed a bit more if I had lowered it in the mix or adjusted its EQ. Anyway thanks for the feedback.

I get compared to Sting alot - edie brickell, well that's a new one. The mix was not something I spent a lot of time on, but I think I had a pretty good one anyway, I'm glad you liked it. I'll have to stop by your page and check out what you have been doing. Thanks again.

the hihat has made some waves - I usually combine two hi-hats, or the same hh with different volumes to give it a little more dynamics, thats a good idea. I'm glad to liked the production, I'll keep working at it. Thanks
