Sony's chopping heads!!

and...SONY Pictures just this week got nailed again for creating fake reviews in major dailys and mags about several of their films.

Tuesday was not a money-making day for Sony Pictures’ Entertainment because the company agreed to pay disgruntled movie-goers $1.5 million to resolve a class-action suit filed against them in 2001. The petitioners claimed the studio used fake critics to trick them and other naïve movie audiences into seeing average flicks such as “Hollow Man” and “A Knight’s Tale.”

Sony allegedly also used endorsements by their very own employees and advertised quotes from reviews written by a non-existent man named David Manning.

The deal that was agreed upon says Sony admits no liability but has agreed to settle the suit to avoid the cost of litigation, while the members of the suit have agreed to release their claims against the studio. In the end, every party got what they wanted; Sony got their pride and reputation back before it was fully tarnished, and the angry movie-lovers got some extra change for that next matinee.
