Heiress, I think it's a fantastic discovery you learned about your voice. It's weird you mention this because today I was singing along with a record and the thought crossed my mind, "What if I have a great voice and I don't even know it?" lol I've never even considered singing. I was always a musician. But I have a good ear. hmmm

Yup,Brünnhilde from Die Walkure...is what you are thinking of which is a Wagnerian soprano smile

exactement. smile which in a way, makes otherwise competent singers who know little about opera believe that they couldn't possibly sing it, because they don't have wagnerian lungs.

Well...opera isn't easy...and everyone can't sing it...but I think everyone can benefit from proper training...I used to dance ,and I always said everyone can benefit from even a day of ballet even if they want to do another type. Good training is good training! biggrin

You are so right. Doing vocalizations in my upper range sure does make singing simple country songs a snap!

There are notes I hit easily now that I can't believe I used to fear. What the heck was I thinking? lol

nod I've been working with this great book called The Artist's Way and she talks about imaginary lives. That is, make a list of imaginary lives you would like to live and then pursue one, in a small way, each week. I've done it a couple a of times and it really opens the consciousness! So, let's say my imaginary life is to be an opera singer, I'll take a singing lesson or join a chorus. It's funny, I had a friend offer to give me a singing lesson a couple of months ago.

Yeah, there are all these dimensions to ourselves that are usually left unexplored.
