Just wondering, Beau - the song with the five minute guitar solo - will you release an extended version with the entire solo included? Did your co-producer think that was/is a good idea?

The reason I'm askin' is 'cause I've been listening to "Hope You Feel Better Love" by the Isley Bros. and Ernie's guitar solo goes on for a long while, but I can listen to it over and over without getting bored/distracted. Prince's solo in "Get It Up" also comes to mind. Sometimes, I think producers underestimate the consumer's attention span.

But then again, I'm a guitar player who LOVES long guitar solos...

I'm sure it'll be available at some point. But I'm like you - a guitar player who loves long solos, regardless if they mean something, or if the person is just noodling... if they're good, it doesn't matter.

But for this CD, no, there's no alternate takes or anything. Maybe a special download from the web site or sumpm, I dunno.

I need to die and born again on Lah De Doh Land, where everybody can record 5 minutes guitar solos, goes crazy, get big, and evanescence and eminen are nowhere near the TOP 40. I know you are right Beau, but it stills piss me of. I am sure that you would prefer to leave your 5 minute guitar solo like it was and people still would eventually dig it. I lost all my faith in the music consumers, that is why i will never be a professional. I don't believe in the quality of the musical taste of the people in general, especially in Brazil, you dont have any idea of what kind of music the youth people listen here, it makes eminem sounds like Chopin.

We listen to what we wanna hear, play what we wanna play, when it comes to commercial music it's got to hit a "McDonald's" mid-range, bulky audience, or it'll die finacially. It doesn't mean you can't still play to a bar full of heads who wanna hear a 5 minute guitar solo, or have loose jams with friends, plus you can always pullout your 'old' favourites tapes of yourself and play them to your friends, and them play their's to you. Multi-faceted realities. The commercial, the creative, the funny. What I'm saying is compartmentalise, if that's a word. Committing to doing a commercially viable CD doesn't necessarily mean selling all of yourself to the machine; unless that's what you want.????
~PClinuxOS~ yes I've been here longer than I care to remember, ... I drop in from time to time, ... thumbs up!

I guess that depends on what a person wants but imho, I don't record music and long guitar solos just to "play them to my friends". I want the world at large to hear them. Whatever happened to an artist remaining true to oneself?

Then again, I do find myself making and playing tapes of my aforementioned guitar solos to my family and friends...

Hell, what the f**k do I know
