Pre-order My CD and I'll put you in the liner notes.

I need money!

So, today I found out that I blew out the bandwidth on my site - www.beaurocks.com - doubled it. How? I don't know. I'm guessing that having ten songs, streaming, on the home page, just might be the culprit. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that might do the trick.

So, anyhow, somebody suggested this, and I'm going to run with it.

The UNH Financial Backers:
Spread the Word Plan:
If you pre-order the CD now, for $20, I'll send you 3 copies when it comes out and thank you in the liner notes. So, you get a copy and you get two copies to give to other people. That way, I get money now and hopefully you get the word out about my music, and you're only paying $5 more for 2 extra CDs. They make great coasters.

The Associate-Producer Plan:
If you give me $50 now, I'll give you 3 CDs when the disc comes out in August, and you'll get your name on the CD as an Associate Producer. While I'm not entirely sure about the logistics of this, I do believe that, since it's my CD, I could list you as the bassoon player and nobody could say anything, because, hey, it's my damn CD.

So there you go. No, I don't have anything set up yet - no paypal, no charge-card thing - I don't have a clue. I'm posting here and then I'll go whoring myself in the usual spaces later today. Just email me, message me, whatever. If you live in Atlanta, just meet me or mail it to me and I'll hook you up when the CDs arrive.

Think of yourself as a supporter of the arts.

Where can you hear the music you're supporting now? Well, until I get the site back up, it's at www.myspace.com/funkmusician. Thanks for not laughing at my desperation.

Great idea, Beau. I'll do the $20 option.

The associate-producer plan sounds a little bit strange to me...

So I'll go for the $20 deal. biggrin

Hmm. Now that you mention it, it does sound a little underwhelming - your name ends up on the thing either way.

Hmm.

Maybe a a lifetime membership to the bhmc. Dang it. I gotta go rethink that $50 level.

Thanks for the love and the friendship and the music.

I don't need the money, and I'm definitely not coercing anybody into giving up money. If you want to buy the record, then hey, right now I'll give you three for $20. If you dont, I'm not going to follow you around bugging you about it.

As far as funding the CD, the babies need food more than the record needs to be mastered. The car eats gas faster than the CD duplication plant makes CDs. My day job is awesome and I will definitely continue to sink money into the record, but I'm now looking into marketing the record and that costs more money than just throwing up music on a free site and hoping people stroll by.

Exactly what IS the last record you bought? Have you always expected everything for free? I don't want to get into a bout with you - I respect your music and your optimistic outlook, and I do hope you find the utopia that you are looking for, but, do you write emails to every artist out there who dares to ask for money for their work?

Do you ask the lawn boy if he has another job before you pay him to cut your grass? Do you grill the taxi driver about what he's making before you tip him?

I'm not offended by your question - just kind of baffled, that's all.

PB, your continued silence on this issue is reassuring.

I tell you what. Orgnote me your address and I'll send you a copy for free.

I'm not out to go to war with you or anyone over this, but apparently I've shocked you out of speaking your mind for a change. That wasn't my goal. I thought we were going to have a decent discussion about this. Just orgnote me an address and you'll have your copy in the mail on the day the disc comes out.

Interesting perspective. Been a member here for years, but I don't believe I've ever posted anything. (If I have it was years ago) But I'm going to be hanging around reading. Oh, and that link up top is still giving me a 404 error. I'd be interested in checking out a sample or 2.
http://www.seven7.us is the website for my 80s cover band. We do a few bad renditions of great prince songs.
