Prince.org Artists Community: A Welcome Invitation For All! NEW PROJECT. (Update 7/19)

I put together a site today in my free time.
Basic, but it works! www.orgsites.com/oh/funkyrevolution

Dearest friends,

Some of you know me from the org, but allow me to introduce myself again. My name is Suzie Cyrus, and I am a bass guitar player in JDodson's band “Flashpointe”(he has the org name that is the same). Me and Jason grew up in Columbus, Ohio together and performed in many talent shows and concert events in the 1990's. As his assistant, I have learned many things over the past few years. One thing that I learned from him is that music, politics, and spirituality can coexist, amazingly enough. I still remain more about the music though. So many people here have taught me many things about different styles of music. Funk has been redefined here as universal, which is another thing that Jason, along with VinaBlue, Manki, DreZone, and many others have shown me in the past with the New Funk Order (I still like Project One the best).

That is why I would like all Prince.org musicians to participate in this forum, regardless of what they sound like, regardless if they are professional or hobbyist, regardless if it is music or poetry or visual art. Dre had a huge relevant point over in another topic where he said that all people shouldn't feel intimidated by other artists or critics, because if it sounds good to you, that is what's relevant.

So, in saying so, I am inviting all of our artists (if you want to) to make a “New Funk Order Lite” CD, where poetry can be displayed, visual arts can be displayed, and even songs with far less than perfect sound can work on collaborations or share their own song.

In doing so, I have summoned Jason Dodson and Isaiah Tolbert to be lead producers, and to help me put together this CD project. I hope that many, many of you will participate. We can share ideas and make sure that your music is heard. I want to make a distinction though. This isn't an NFO project. This is a project that is not politically or religiously motivated in any way (not that the NFO is), nor is it an official NFO project. This is something fresh, new, and hopefully something that will get the creative juices flowing again in this forum and around the net.

I had this idea because I wanted people to understand that there isn't a submission process with this CD. This is a “jam as you are” project.

Let's make this happen.

Ciao and kisses,
Suzie C

I like the idea, but: Is there a overall concept or is it just about art in general?

The concept is life in abstract. Freedom. That's what it's about.

I figure that I will put together a liner with a collage of many different artworks from various P.org visual artists, painters, or sketch artists-

then, the music will be associated with each picture in some way.

Pretty unique, huh?

So it's going to be a CD then? Oh. So, I suppose my animated short will be useless then. Okay. No biggie.

Gospel-Bluegrass would be awesome, as long as it's unique and it's you!

We can still use the animated short. We can have a multi-format CD. No problem!

I'm digging into the vault for one for you. This was recorded awhile back, but I think it's closer to raw funk punk stuff... sort of a primitive chili-peppers thing maybe. It's from my band Headquake.

I like the parameters :
"...all Prince.org musicians to participate in this forum, regardless of what they sound like, regardless if they are professional or hobbyist, regardless if it is music or poetry or visual art."
"...and even songs with far less than perfect sound can work on collaborations or share their own song. "

A sound quality challenged person like myself could get into this. lol
Thanks Grace, sweet idea .
yes
~PClinuxOS~ yes I've been here longer than I care to remember, ... I drop in from time to time, ... thumbs up!
