OTAN Esta Muerto. http://www.blindslim.com/...o_rich.mp3
I'm retiring the Otan org name, going on with my name instead of a joke I made from the Rainbow Children, (the opposite of Nato is Otan - hey it was funny at the time). So there you go - the latest tune from the Studio. The harmonica solo was static and uninspired, so, I used what is becoming the de-facto quick fix on my project - REVERSE. Besides - have you ever heard a harmonica solo in reverse before? I don't think so. I'm pretty sure I'm breaking harmonica ground here. The song rocks. Unfortunately, the bass is absent from class, so, it'll be fixed and available on the CD. Enjoy. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

long live BEAU. I'm glad someone else isn't afraid to be real on the org. So many posers and paranoid people do their sublime bidding on the net.Way to go Beau!

To say the least. I've got to say this is the first of the studio stuff that I really hear the incredible differences from the originals. I heard the differences but this one is just amazing.

The cool thing about the mixes - at least from today - is that they're sounding more and more like the demos, only a whole lot better. Initially, the songs sounded remotely similar, but for the most part, I wasn't hearing what I'd heard in the demos (at least, the stuff that I liked) like the chest-breaking kick-drum, the instruments with the right reverb, I don't know what it was, but today these things are sounding great.
And NOW, I'm having to go through and clean up the potty mouth. Oh Face is probably the worst of the bunch, (there's an MF, and an S) and the reverse-the-word thing wasn't working, cutting that track during the word wasn't, and I finally found a solution that I was happy with. I only wish that i'd taken the time to rewrite the thing before I ever recorded it. What else. Today was a busy day - we mixed 4 songs in 8 hours. The first one was stressful because the engineer thought it sounded great, and I wanted more bass... so while he was mixing it, he was a huffing and a puffing around, but in the end, he agreed - he thought it sounded better. I love pro-tools. I'm converted. I gotta sell the Zoom now and start turning my computer into a Recording Workstation. The stuff I did today, putting together a single guitar take from 3 different original takes, fixing minor flubs that were acceptable, but maybe stood out just a little too much. Whatever. I'm happy. I'm listening to this stuff thinking that, yeah, this IS the best it can sound. Maybe if some major label picked me up and wanted me to go in and do it all tigheter, MAYBE i could improve it, but right now, there's enough accidents and rough edges to keep the energy in there. If I went in and started perfecting every teeny tiny audible flub, I'd just end up sterilizing it, which would be great for Britney, but not for me. So I'm way happy today. www.beaurocks.com Trees are made of WOOD!

Cool stuff! Man, I wish I could come up with stuff like this!!
Just one suggestion, regarding your track in your sig (the "What you gonna do when the party is over...?" one.): Personally, I think on the last line of the chorus, the "What's it gonna take you to see..?", I think all the instruments should drop out on the "What's..." and come back in when you have sung the rest of the line (as you hold onto the "eeee" of the "see"). Sorta like this (if this makes sense)- Vocals: What's ..... it gonna take you to see-e-e-e-e.....? Music: (All music stops). . ..... ... ..... ..... .. .. ..(crash, wallop music back in) [Edited 6/15/05 3:17am]

Thanks for the idea Dave. I think mixing on that track is completely and totally wrapped up though. If we come back to it, I'll try that out. www.beaurocks.com Trees are made of WOOD!
