Sorry, I meant to ask what recording software they use with it too.

Pro Tools, of course. Seems like it's become the standard.

Slave2daGroove

Cool, now how's the mixing coming and where is it being mastered?

Those pictures are dark but that's because a studio should be inviting like a womb. Hopefully that's not already been used because that's the new name of my studio.

"The Womb"

"Womb Records"

I see the logo in my head already but I digress.

Thanks for the updates

So you didn't bring the organist from the P-Funk or you did?

I'm  - edit

Here's a rough-rough-rough take. Nothing on this take stayed on the final, except the drums and the backing vocals - and maybe the main vocals. All the guitars have been re-done, and the bass was me noodling along to the rest of the stuff while it was getting mixed down.

But who cares. LISTEN TO THE DRUMS!

Edit. Oh. I forgot. I was messing with the mix - trying to see what it would sound like if I put the very ending back at the front... so it starts off crazy. So, yeah, just ignore that too.

So, then, to re-cap. Here's a rough rough. Ignore everything on it.

Yeah. That sums it up.

The sources sound great, and the music is funky. The only thing missing is the final mix. Great work thumbs up!

Okay, I'll try to add the photos here.

First - the big recording room - this is just all the guitars. Ooh it was Christmas time. (the guitars on far left and far right are mine, yawn)

Here's the main control room - I didn't get a shot of all the doodads, (compressors, verbs, eqs, things that go beep, etc)

Here's the vocal booth - the drums were recorded in here as well - this is just a shot of the microphone really, big whup:

Here's the smaller control room (that's attached to the vocal booth)

OMG. that's the same console I'm working on! Amek Angela II!!!
It's a nice console, even though I'm not really fond of it's EQ.
Looks like a nice studio. biggrin

I didn't use the P-Funk organist. In fact, I think we're leaving all my original tracks in there, except for the harmonica solos, those have been replaced.

We're now in the stages of picking the bad spots and replacing them with previous takes; a bad note here and there, fluffing out the choruses, stuff like that.

I've said it already and I'll say it again. I had no idea it could take this long to record a song! My previous experiences in the studio have been "come in, pay, record, mix down, have a nice day" all at once.

I'm pretty much sick of my own voice at this point.

But hey, on a way-cool note, I heard my 2-year-old singing the chorus to "whatchagonnado" in the car this morning. That's mind-blowing.

Slash

hey I just listened to that clip...is it called Oh Face or summink....?

Anyhow..omg that is good! Also, maybe this is immature of me, but the "mother fucker.." bit is cool too. Swearing in songs is way underrated..

Great energy coming off the drums - like someone else said, it sounds like it's gonna come apart at the seams but never does. I think that is the essence of a great drummer - it sounds like it's alive and has a life of its own but it still stays in the pocket.

Awe ... Now YOU KNOW that was worth every bit of time and/or money you've spent on this. That's cool!
