OK, who here has done karaoke? So I went to this "open mic" night with a friend of mine who wanted to see her friend who was hosting the open mic. There were hardly any performers there... so it turned into a karaoke night... My friend sang 4 songs and I was like
After 2 screwdrivers... I bought a 3rd drink before I realized I shouldn't have... I'm a lightweight, so I was walking funny after the 2nd drink. If I would have waited 10 minutes I would have realized that before buying the 3rd, but hey, it was happy hour. $2 wells and I wasn't driving. Anyway I didn't sing. Which brings me to the question.... Have you? What song? How did it go? Were you drunk?

Totally guilty of this.
Secretly... my first taste of Karaoke...about 15 years ago - did sumphin real strange. I went out the next day and rented a K machine. I blacked out all my windows and pressed play. Recorded half of dozen songs. Back then...it was Tina Turner (What's Love Got to do With it), Eddy Grant (Electric Ave), Romantics (Talking in Your Sleep) oh and of course...Sweet Dreams. Well I realized I was no Annie Lennox. But...there were moments. Just pray someone never yells 'field trip', we head to a Karaoke bar and yep...3 screwdrivers would do it. It is the truth tho no? People go...oh poo...poo...poo. Never get me doin' Karaoke, let alone get me to a Karaoke bar. But...pfffft....2 hours later and you can't get the dayum mic out of their hand.

No karaoke, but was invited to the stage at a bar in Italy to sing a song after we played a Jazz Festival and it was off the chain. It was like doing a karaoke with a like band because it was spur of the moment. I sang "Kiss" and the place went wild. Not because I was so good, I think it was the novelty of seeing an American do his thang and all of the alcohol that they had already drank before we got there.

I think drinking and karaoke go hand in hand! Yeah, it's so retarded, but it can be fun. One girl did an NSNYC song and she was dancing, very animated. This other guy did mostly showtunes... The host was funny, she sang a song and kept switching from Stevie Nicks voice to Cher's voice. She had a great voice and sang a blusey song as well. Then there were these 2 other very amazing women: One did Son of a Preacher Man and the other did Bobbie McGee and sounded JUST like Janis Joplin. I was like "whoa."

Had an old girlfriend who loved it.
No matter how drunk I got, out of key covers was my idea of what hell must be like. Confession; On a mystery trip to the Bahamas on a Cruise Ship 5 years ago I did do back-up on "Rollin Down the River" but Ikes parts are low and not hard I was so drunk I barely remember it.

I've shot at some folks doing karaoke. Just kidding
The only thing that comes to mind when the word karaoke is brought up... ...is Chris Tucker doing his best MJ on Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough in Rush Hour 2. But since I work for a Japanese company, i'm dreading my 1st trip to the home office where i'm told karaoke participitation is almost mandatory. I did karaoke a lot when I was working in Greece, the summer of '96. Every monday there was a karaoke night at a little bar and we used to have a lot of fun there. I did Prince songs, Al Green, Elton john and other tracks, I just loved it. It is very tacky of course, but when you have been drinking it is a lot of fun to do, hehehe! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Un4tunately in my area, I'm known as the "Karaoke king", ONLY BECAUSE when I get the chance, I run around the building, serenading women and jumping on tables while performing "Kiss"!
ah, those were the days! FishSlaps welcome! 'dre Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

Sure, and I'm sure I sucked, but generally so does most everyone else so it's cool.
