If you can't speak, then you're not singing right or you're out of practice. I usually get a mild sore throat because I don't practice every day. So when I do like a "recording session" and sing for a few hours, trying to use the right techniques and sound good, I get sore because I should be practicing every day. Plus, I probably didn't do enough warm ups before the "performance".

So now that you have a sore throat what do you do? Is it just sore or can you literally not speak? I usually drink tea or buy some chicken broth and drink that.

I wish I had the remedy for this because right now my voice is coming and going because of allergies and post nasal drip. Does anybody know the answer to this? If so, orgnote me the answer. confused

I usually say to my throat, "hey come back down here! you're not supposed to soar so high up in the sky!" and I attract it back to the ground with a pickle or some popcorm.

and that usually works.

Be careful. If you can't do it, don't strain... it can cause some permanent damage.

Stay away from anything mentholated. It soothes and numbs, but thins out your vocal chords and make them more damage-prone.

Tea with honey, or just some spoonfuls of honey works really well. A squirt of lemon is okay, don't overdo it.

Keep yourself going on Vitamin C. The HALLS Vitamin C drops are great (and non-mentholated).

Gargle with warm salt-water, or with apple cider vinegar.

Breathe and support!!

i personally think its soar because i went out of my 3 octave practicing range... (havent done scales in a few weeks)
i was in key but i literally strained my voice...

now when i swallow it hurts like hell...
but the Vocal Eaze im taking numbs my throat so i can speak...

I read an article about the honey and tea solution - that's the way to go. Warmth, and gargle with warm salt water, A LOT. Don't swallow it, just gargle. The salt heals the vocal chords, the warmth brings bloodflot to them.

It's really the best thing you can do.

Gargling will actually do more harm than good. It's OK to use it as an anaesthetic if you were to do a gig in the next day or so and felt that you couldn't last the duration of the gig otherwise, but it can put strain on your vocal chords.
Tea's another one that's not recommended, with the exception of sage tea as sage has healing properties for sore throats.
It is very boring doing scales every day, but it does help!
The best thing right now though would be to rest your voice.
Hope this helps

when ur going for high notes - dont belt them out or push

pull the note down through the top of your head then sing through your eyes eye

u want resonance in the bridge of your nose - not your throat.

cure for sore throat : vitamin C - no talking or whispering - sunlight - sleep.
