THE NU ERA PROJECT: ~~"Utterance"~~

Sup' fellow Org Musicians! Can I get some constructive criticism on this new jon called "utterance"? It's actually a remix off a slower version. I know some of ya'll are used to us on a alternative Hip-hop vibe, but we trying to be versatile. Just click on the soundclick link at the bottom. The lyrics should be up on the site too. Holla at ya boy'!

"LYRIC"!

pretty song. The vocals seem to be very low in the mix. Sounds better through headphones though. Maybe that's what you were going for?

Nicely done.

I agree w/Tal vocals need to be stronger in the mix but I like it better than the other 2 but that's just me. It's all well produced and sometimes that's half the battle.

thanks for sharing it.

Very cool track, the mix is a bit murky, I personally would rather have more of the 'dreamy' floating on the top ( voice, sound fx ect)... The bass line clutters just a bit, not because of the notes but because it takes a lot of sonic space. It could use a touch more space and a bit less earth. Really like your tracks.
Turn that damn gitarr down!! http://www.soundclick.com/kevinschafer

Before I say ANYTHING... I wanted to say in general this song is BADASS and I love it! biggrin Okay...that being said, I agree with everyone else that the vocals are to low in the mix,its almost like her voice is being swallowed by all the echo, maybe take the echo levels down a level and bring up her main lead vocal( have the echo as more of an undercurrent)also, I don't know if it was done on purpose but, the loop seems slightly off beat...like not quite in the 4/4 time it was intending, therefore, the leads sound offwhich would be a regular result if that is the track they used to sing with. Like I said though,if you wanted it to sound off beat then that's cool, but it needs to be more "deliberate" either way in the bass,if you didn't want it offbeat then try setting the loops again with a metronome or something.I didn't listen to it with headphones so I couldn't tell if you did anything with left and right channel difference, but I think it would be more effective for the vocal you're trying to achieve if you put one version of the lead vocals on the left and a seperate one on the right...kind of like in "Pop Life"? Just a suggestion...

I appreciate all the helpful hints and contructive criticism! I will definately put everybody's thoughts down for the final mixdown. Man, if the world were all musicians we'd have a paradise! LOL!

I know I'm a little late in the game but...

Got a chance to hear this one and the backround music is wonderful!
I'm sure you've heard all about the vocals in the mix...
I really dig how everything swims around--makes it more holographic!

peace
