Okay, the short answer: I kicked that ass.

We opened with Life Can be So Nice. No, I didn't get a chance to record the thing, I really really really wished that I did. I wont say it was note-perfect, but man, well, here's the thing, they bumped us up from 10 to 9:30, and I had to run from my car into the bar, down the stairs, up on stage, throw on my guitar and count it off, and WHAM peoples was hurt. It was fun.

And then we played Oh Face and She's Too Rich and really, that was a one-two punch. We had technical difficulties so we didn't do the keyboard-heavy songs, (sorry Funkaholic, thanks for the tracks anyhow) but in the end, we finished up with Everybody Everybody which seggued into the supernastifragilistic funk of Sex Machine, slowed down. If you've EVER heard the small club live version Prince does, then you'll know what I'm talking about, it was a direct lift from that.

We never went to the bridge though, and I called the ending of the song, people were clapping, and the bass player came over and said, "MAN that kicked ass, but you shoulda taken it to the bridge". Which I guess leaked over the mic, and people in the front row (okay, who am I kidding, the two out of the 20 who were there) heard it and started yelling for me to take it to the bridge.

And who am I to let down the fan. I say into the mic, "oh, you think I should take it to the bridge?" while the next band is getting ready to start loading their crap onstage... heh. losers.

"hit it!" BAM straight up to the bridge, play it 8 measures, and count off the ending.

Applause... "oh, yall wanna hit that sh!t again?" BAM straight up again. It was grand in it's simplicity, spontanaety and whateverity.

So there you go. I had a blast and I looked fly. I had a cheap suit, with the pants tucked into my boots. It was ugly in a DAMN FUNKY way. Love all around.
