Post your creative commitments for the week

Hey everyone

There's been some discussion around here about making weekly commitments (I don't like the word goals so much) to keep our creative projects going forward. So my idea is it helps to tell others and they may even help keep you accountable to your words. (and give you lots of support too)

So have at it: Make a commitment to do something for yourself this week to jump start your project along. It should be a real commitment that takes some effort or risk. But something that moves you forward and is not just an excuse for spinning your wheels. lol

THEN post when you've completed your commitment.

OKAY, here's mine:
Spend 6.5 hours writing my screenplay
draft a syllabus for a class I want to teach on global cinema, so I can propose it to someone
(sorry my commitments this week aren't musical ones)

GO! You have one week.

I'm gonna do some scratch vocals (perhaps right now...) for this guy: http://www.myspace.com/wizardofodd

And I'm gonna record the vocals for my track "Naked" for PaisleyPark4 this weekend so I can send them to him to work with.

I have an appointment with http://www.montesanomusic.com/ tomorow night. I'm gonna see what this guy is all about and if he can help me with my stuff. I have a feeling he can't help me, lol. I don't think he has much experience with the kind of music I want to create. However, I have been meeting lots of people through myspace.com and I've got 2 guys that are interested in collaborating with me.

This is the first time I've gone out and met people face to face with my music. Up until a month ago I was only doing this online.

mr.green I got a few things on the back burner as well.

Not an earth shaking commitment, (Don't like that word ! ),But I'm gonna re-string my acoustic guitar. I've had it for 30 years omfg and it's been my companion since childhood. Great care must be taken as it's made of a light wood and has an unusually thin neck . To avoid twisting or bowing the truss rod has to be manipulated, plus the action checked out carefully . Has to be done "just right". Yeh not much of a commitment, but I've put it off too long and it's time to do it. Thanks for this idea 4 a thread heartbeatocean. More major tasks will be undertaken shortly as it's time to stoke the boiler and get some Music happening, inertia has taken hold and I'm ready to shake it off and bloom. wink

Maybe not earthshaking, but sounds like a solid enough commitment to me. And one that will move you forward and stimulate you, esp since you've been putting it off. thumbs up!

My studio site, the studio site and if there is any time left after that, the studio site. I've been saying it for like 3 years now!

Finally started this week. Took a whole week off too, just to do it. Got so wrapped up with the Street Painting Festival, (next month) it's already Thursday. I should have taken two weeks off.

I friggin' own that gig this year! I got to re-do the website, print items for the news paper, (1.5 million copies) also got to write some editorials for the event that will go in the paper and the program guide, booked Frank as the featured band for the event AND I designed the t-shirt that gets sold every year. Oh, and it's also got my painting in the design from last year.

Funny thing is I made that one shirt design to make for myself using the cafepress site, but when the committee saw it, they chose it over my other designs that I friggin slaved over all week. Go figure. Not that I'm complaining, because I'll be pimped all over the place come next month!

So...
This whole chamber of commerce thing is really taking off as I'm pretty much the only one in the area that does what I do, so they are constantly referring me to just about everyone. So much, I'm going to have a waiting list soon.

But I ain't complaining. Got my head in the clouds, dreaming of a little store front studio in the downtown area. You got to dream it to achieve it, right?

I got all my smaller, secondary goals in the can for this week, but I've neglected my ONE major goal that I promised myself I would spend more time on than anything this week.

Ok, back to work!

My commitments they are kinda ongoing, they don't have a start date and the end date is ASAP. Mine r 2 get this Marc Anthony record going, keep helping the people that I am working with, Keep emailing A&R from all the labels music/tracks etc. Try and demo some of the songs i have written, Now i have a problem here, I cannot find anyone 2 demo them and my voice is bad, i haven't sung 4 years.....does anyone know of a free audio program 4 me where i can add a track from a CD and record my vocals over it. and thus save it and send it. Y'all r busy, good luck. Love Missmad (mihad in real) Me- had an icecream cool biggrin . thanx

Finish the P.R. for the upcoming Atlanta gig, and get these packages in the mail, TODAY. (Time is a wasting. The show is in 2 weeks!)

Write lyrics for my new song "The Show Me State".

Put together a tracklist for my CD.

Start tracking the new CD. Time to get this thing going.

GREAT IDEA!!

Flashpointe

On a number of letter writing campaigns to Senators and Representatives to oppose confirmations of Bush appointees.

Doing economics consulting and presentations for a few regional companies. Also, I will be starting my own Church services this Saturday at the Days Inn Convention Center. Probably won't be but a few people that come, but I am starting to get people interested.

Beginning work on a collaboration with DreZone. We have the music rough drafts in place, and the lyrics are next.

I will be organizing with Clear Channel for a release of a New Funk Order music page also. More details to come on that. Originally, it was going to be up last Monday, but they had some technical problems and we have to wait for a little while. But, that should be going well soon.

Oh, and I will be doing my regular job and dad/husband work too.

Peace,
JD

Im studying Freestyle music and seeing how I can create one for my album. Hopefully Ill have one style of every type of music I like for my next one. God I wish my sis Quinese can cover it for me.

I have underground soul - 45 RPM
I have Roger & Zapp funk - Take Yo Ass 2 The Floor
I have 80s Prince influence - Elastic Love feat. Quinese
Breakbeat - Damaged Volumez / Aint No Funk (Like A New Funk Order)
Electro - Izaktro
Experimental - He Told Me 2 Record
Ambient - Dream/Boi
Erotic Profusion (If Raijuan allows me when its over)
R&B - (It is still untitled at this point but it was offered to Vina at a time)
I hope Psykosoul will let me hold "Oooh" once I finish that 4 him

I need a soft rock song like I had on my last one, though Im not good at that so I probably wont.

Hell I dont know, but Freestyle is definitley what I want right now
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.
