Mastering: Hardware vs Software

Anyone here able to give a comparison for software vs hardware in mastering? Say: Alesis Masterlink vs T-Racks and/or Sound Forge?

Thanks,

Soulflyer

If you really want to do mastering in the box the best software for the job is contained within the UAD-1 card

http://www.uaudio.com/

You have:

Fairchild Compressor
Cambridge EQ
Precision Limiter
Pultec EQ
Precision EQ
LA2A

I can't say enough about these plugs they f-ing kick azz. Everything these people do are top notch and uncomparable in sound.

I also like the Waves LinMB Multiband compressor...

Tracking or mastering the UAD-1 is unmatched in quality. no... I don't work for them just a happy customer.
