ARTIST NEWS: INXS Auditions For Lead Singer

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) -- INXS, the multi-platinum international Rock band is looking for their next lead singer. Mark Burnett Productions, the creator of Survivor and The Apprentice has created a new TV reality series on CBS that will give singers and songwriters the opportunity to become the next lead singer of INXS. We are looking for Men and Women of all styles that are ages 21 and up. Auditioners will be asked to perform up to 3 songs (INXS songs are NOT required.) They may perform to a CD track (w/ no vocal) or with 1 musical instrument.

I'm re-doing my latest hot-nasty song. Been doing lots of them lately. But serirally, you guys, I had my day as Michael Hutchence, but the range has severely dropped with my belt line over the years. Besides, me doing INXS would be something akin to Marky Mark in the movie ROCK STAR. I'd love the hell out of it until they said, "YOUR songs! are you crazy? The fans want INXS and that's what we tell you to record"

The audition:
WHAT YOU NEED: "excuse me, I was thinking, um, this is a great song. Can we drop it about five notes? I just cant hit that "what! what!" line. SO, if you guys can just move it down 5 frets. thanks."

I NEED YOU TONIGHT: "yeah, this is a great tune. One of my favorites. But, instead of where Michael says "I need you tonite" at the end, I was thinking, I'd like to say "show her my oh face" whaddya think?"

sigh.

I'm a chicken.

Okay, so hell yeah, I checked out the site, and I see that you're not required to DO INXS songs at the audition, so, hell yeah. I'll be up there doing SHOW HER MY OH FACE next thursday. DAMN I'm jazzed. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm sure I'll be surrounded by a bunch of 21 yr old posers with $120 jeans and $80 old t-shirts. Dang.

You know, this is crazy, but the more I read about it, the more I'm positive that I'm going to do it. I'm going to the audition next Thursday and I'm also sending in a tape. It has to be 4 minutes long.

The beauty is, they want the people auditioning to do ORIGINAL SONGS, and they want them to accompany themselves. That rules out all the American Idol candidates, and leaves only me and a bunch of acoustical folkies. And yeah, probably twenty other singer/songwriter/rockers who will blow me out of the water. Whatever. I'm all up on this.

And hell yeah, I mentioned it to the missus, and her first reaction was "oh you have to do that!" Spousal support is so kickass.

I don't know... that is what it's called on my puter. It was right after Everybody Have a Party, because it has groovy keyboards and guitar and when you posted it I said you sound sooooo like Hutchence on it. I wish the search function worked... Lemme see if I can use my sleuth skillz...

I sent an e-mail to the coordinators of the auditions, and they CALLED me and set up an appointment for an audition, the day AFTER the open call! I'm skipping the open call! I'M GOING TO THE REAL AUDITION!

It's not gonna be like american idol at all. It's going to be a bunch of people competing, on a television show, all trying to perform and sing better than the others, so in the end, one of them will get to tour and have a temporary stardom.

oh. wait.

Ah shit what do I care! I'm all up ons! Honestly, I'm sure there will be plenty of amazing talent at this thing on Friday, so I'm not planning anything beyond that. I'm going there with 25 copies of my songs, flyers for the upcoming shows, and a huge gigantic, "WHADAP YABITCHES!" in my heart. It'll be fun. That's all.

And hell yeah I might move to Australia!

First, either wear an "NFO" shirt or a "Voyeurweb" shirt. That'd be cool.

Second, give them an age that is an obvious bold-faced lie. Tell them you're 23 or 63.

Third, ask them if you can "get some lovin'" and spell it out for them - L-O-V-I-N!

A Video of the Audition would be cool

The thought of this when I first heard about it made me but if they change the vibe and make something new with some real talent it may work out.

If it smells romotely like what is called "reality t.v." on television today, then it will take some good music/talent to save it just to do justice to one of my favorite bands.
