Apple News Thousands Await Jobs' Apple Unveiling
Thousands Gather to See What Apple's Steve Jobs Will Unveil; Speculation on $500 IMac, Cheaper IPod Apple Computer Inc. chief executive Steve Jobs, lower-left, talks about Apple's new operating system, OS X Tiger, as he is dwarfed by massive high definition television screens, one of which is projecting his image, upper center, during Jobs' keynote address, Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at MacWorld in San Francisco. (AP Photo/Ben Margot SAN FRANCISCO Jan 11, 2005 — Thousands of Mac enthusiasts gathered Tuesday to see what Apple Computer Inc.'s Steve Jobs will unveil next to keep his company on its recent roll. Jobs, Apple's co-founder and chief executive, has recently infused the 29-year-old company with new life with hot new products such as the iMac computer and the iPod portable music player. In the past year, the Cupertino-based company's stock has tripled on strong sales of those digital devices. Now, analysts and other industry observers expect Apple's charismatic leader to introduce yet another product that will help keep the company on a steady path of growth and perhaps even help to expand its 3 percent share of the U.S. computer market. Some of those in attendance at the annual Macworld & Expo believe the new products will include a $500 iMac computer, which would put Apple for the first time in the budget desktop PC arena dominated by rivals making PCs that rely on Microsoft Corp.'s Windows operating system. Other possibilites includes a less expensive flash memory-based model of the iPod, which is already the hottest selling MP3 player in the market and has become a cultural icon. You know that really bugged the heck out of me when I first switched. However, after I learned all the keyboard shortcuts, I don't miss them at all. Recently I downloaded a PDF file that has them ALL listed that I posted just to the right of my screen and I'm learning all kinds of new shortcuts every day that really save a ton of time. YOU CAN, however, program a two button apple mouse to do whatever you want it to for those that feel they NEED it. All Rights Reserved. |
